Police say that Syed Rahman, 24, admitted to smashing Ingrid Rivera over the head with a pipe during an argument.
As previously reported [click to read] Rivera, 24, was found dead on Wednesday (August 6) as the apparent result of blunt trauma to the head.
According to CNN.com, Rahman admitted he killed Rivera at about 2:45 AM during a birthday party for Lil’ Kim. Apparently, Rahman and Rivera, who had met for the first time inside Spotlight Live club in Times Square, had an argument the night of the party. A friend of Rivera pointed police in Rahman’s direction after telling them she had denied his sexual advances on the roof of the club.
Police say Rivera arrived at the party around 9:30 PM with a boquet she had hoped to give to the rapper. Later on in the night, Rivera was reportedly kicked out of the club for accidentally entering the men’s restroom.
At that point, Rahman lured Rivera’s friend to the roof, saying Rivera was there. After her friend refused to go to the roof, Rahman found Rivera outside, claiming he could get her back in.
Rahman took Rivera in through the employee entrance, up to the roof in a service elevator, and then proceeded to beat her inside a utility shed, killing her.
“We are shocked by this terrible tragedy and our hearts go out to
Ingrid Rivera’s family and friends. We are grateful to the New York
Police Department for arresting a suspect in this crime. We continue to
cooperate with police and answer any questions they may have,” the club
said.
Lil’ Kim’s spokesman, Ronn Torossian, said in an e-mailed statement
that Wednesday night was “the first (she) has heard of this matter.”
