Maino has poked some holes in Cam’ron‘s story about Jim Jones checking him in a nightclub over a perceived diss.
Appearing on Way Up with Angela Yee, the “Hi Hater” rapper offered his perspective on how things went down between him and his Lobby Boyz partner-in-rhyme early in their careers.

“The song he’s talking about is the song that put me in the game, ‘Rumors,’ where I was talking about all the rumors in the industry,” Maino explained. “The thing about that is I mentioned [Cam’ron] in the song; I didn’t mention Jimmy.
“Jimmy didn’t like me [because of that] so we when we saw each other we would have these ‘face fights,’ but nothing ever happened.”

The Brooklyn native then detailed their confrontation: “We were in Atlanta and we had a conversation. He didn’t approach me and press me or none of that. We had a conversation. It wasn’t spectacular, nobody swung.
“Once we started to talk and realized that we had things in common, we were cool from that point on. We’ve been way cooler than we were [enemies] because we didn’t know each other. That was a long time ago.”
Maino added that their conversation “didn’t go like” how Cam’ron told it, although there “was definitely some tension there and it needed to be addressed.”
Cam’ron’s retelling of the run-in came during an explosive rant against Jim Jones earlier this week on his sports talk show It Is What It Is.
Firing back at Capo’s claims that he and 50 Cent are “dickriders” and that his best friend Ma$e used to “shit on” him, Killa mocked his former Dipset comrade for making amends with “every n-gga that put hands on [him].”

“Ever wonder how he met Maino? Maino gonna downplay it ’cause they cool now. He tried to press Maino ’cause Maino first came out with a little record where he said a n-gga’s name,” Cam said.
“So Jim went to see Maino one day and was like, ‘Yo, wassup with all that saying my name?’ Maino said, ‘Who the fuck you talking to?! Oh, you think I’m one of them n-ggas? You out your muthafucking mind!’ Now they’re the Lobby Boyz.”
He added: “Every n-gga that do something to put pressure on you, you sit there and work it out. But when n-ggas got genuine heart for you and don’t put hands on you, then you can keep going on and on. That’s the pattern.”
The story was later backed up by DJ Envy, who claimed that Maino pretended to pull a gun on Jim Jones during the confrontation.

“I remember that night. We’re all in the club and Maino was the bad boy back in the day, like running around and threatening everybody. So Maino had three [people with him],” the Breakfast Club co-host said on the morning radio show.
“Jim came in the club and must have had about 15 dudes with him. And when he walked down the stairs, the first thing Maino did was turn around and said, ‘Yo, everybody tuck your chains in.’”

Envy then recalled the “We Fly High” hitmaker approaching Maino and his crew: “Jim walked over, with all the dudes in front of Maino, and Maino went in his jacket like he had a gun. And when he fake pulled out like he had a gun, the club scattered. Everybody cleared out.”
