In a clip that premiered in today’s DX Daily (October 9), Swollen Members emcee Madchild spoke with HipHopDX to discuss the importance of being co-signed in Hip Hop for mainstream artists. The Vancouver, British Columbia native subsequently cites the careers of both Drake and Eminem as rappers who have experienced the benefits of being co-signed from the likes of Lil Wayne and Dr. Dre respectively.
“Drake won the Rap lottery,” Madchild says. “He’s incredible, his music is amazing, and I listen to him probably more than most other artists. But I might not have even known about him if Lil Wayne hadn’t put him under his wing.
“Eminem, right now, if Dr. Dre hadn’t put him under his wing, could very well be on tour with Vinnie Paz right now—and I love Vinnie Paz,” Madchild continues. “As you know I love La Coka Nostra, Ill Bill and Dilated Peoples. I do love underground Hip Hop, especially the lyrical supremacists of that genre. A lot of people put me in those categories and say ‘When are you going to get your time?’ A lot of my fans compare me to some of the mainstream greats so, who knows?”

That’s a real statement. Every artist had to have a little luck by association to get on top. Kanye and Jay-Z, Drake and Wayne, Nicki and Wayne, Eminem and Dre, 50 Cent and Eminem, the list goes on and on. All the top artist piggybacked a superstar but their talent kept them there. Beanie was dope but he didn’t have what it took to stay on top like Kanye.
Like, like, like, like…
more like the rap game won a lottery by having drake in it. Drake made rap what it is today. With out drake rap is irrelevent and everyone would listen to other genres of music. The face of rap would be popstar feminem thank drake for taking rap back to its roots.
More lies from Drake’s number one female fan.

aka Drake’s “lottery”
I listen to drake and i love his videos. I am a southerner and grew up with cash money and wayne. Was listenin to the Carter Album other day goin to Lake Tahoe with the fam. But let me be very clear on this. Rap was here before Drake. It will be here after Drake. Niggaz got short attention spans and even shorter ears so most people will find one or two artist they like and let the media pick the rest. My ENTIRE itunes playlist consist of Mixtapes from Datpiff and if i go back i can listen to new music on a regular and find ish like Paypa a boat load of artist like that who have killed it but dont get credit. Xv has hella good music but because he doesnt just rap about murder and frying your brain with drugs nobody listens as much but he has a fan base. The hate for artist who arent murderers or mainstream is unreal. The devil is a busy man,, dumbing us down and feeding us the same bullshit self hate he always has. Jazz died because people refuse to listen,,, then Paul Whiteman came,,,
Agree. A lot of dope artists that never get put on. At the same time, a lot of wack mf that get that chance and can’t do shit with it.
Lil Wayne put on by Juvenile
Nas put on by MC Serch
Jay-Z put on by Jaz
Stating the obvious, pointless article. No one’s gonna put Madchild on cause Madchild sounds like a prepubescent teen when he raps and he looks like a tattooed lesbian. He been underground and will stay that way, Shitty white boy agro rap for whiteboys.
He sounds exactly the same as Kendrick Lamar.
No, he doesn’t. They sound nothing alike.
