Macklemore & Ryan Lewis “This Unruly Mess I’ve Made” First Week Sales Projections

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis released their sophomore album, This Unruly Mess I’ve Made, earlier this week (February 26).

The LP, which features the likes of Ed Sheeran, Chance The Rapper, YG and Anderson .Paak, among others, is projected to sell between 45,000 and 55,000 units during its first week in stores, according to Hits Daily Double. That number is expected to rise to between 50,000 and 60,000 when taking into consideration sales plus streams.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ 2012 debut album, The Heist, sold 78,000 units during its first week of release.

This week’s other notable release came from British band, The 1975. Their sophomore album, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It, is projected to sell between 90,000 and 100,000 units during its first week in stores. Again, that number is expected to rise to between 95,000 and 105,000 units when taking into consideration sales plus streams.

      1. You people just want to argue to argue. Thats fine. Future is not supposed to be outselling mackelmore, independent or not. Even Mac Miller last album did at least 100 in the 1st week and he’s independent as well. And Mac Miller is not more popular than Mackelmore. But whatever

      2. The album will gain traction as singles are released, their debut album took awhile to move a million copies, trust me little guy the album will do well

    1. I’m curious what people define as a flop. To me it’s when an album doesn’t recoup in sales what the budget cost or that it didn’t meet expectations as far as content and quality. Since this article is about sales I’m assuming in the comments people are referring to the former. I’d say selling 50k as an indie artist with only major distribution more than covers the cost of the album. This album kinda came out of the blue with no real singles or music videos like The Heist, so it seems like a good number. It’s been 4 years since their last album so the buzz and hype wore off in my opinion. I’m just curious what defines this album as a flop and also curious if people think it will have an upward trajectory in sales as the weeks go (like The Heist) on if he pushes some singles and music videos. Just trying to have a hip-hop conversation is all

      1. they won best rap album in 2014. yes singles were released as early as 2011 and as late as 10/13, but i think four years is a stretch.

    2. Does it matter…if it does well and wins a Grammy, he’s just gonna apologize like a bitch for his hard work and reward. Fuck this guy
