Lupe Fiasco Lists His Top 3 Rappers & Says He’s Done With Guest Features Forever

It seems the only way the world will be hearing new music from Lupe Fiasco will be on his own projects and without any other artists on the track.

In a Twitter conversation with fans, he stated: “[Y]ou will never hear me on a track with another rapper ever again.”

Fiasco explained that he’s crossed all the guest features he wanted to do off his list, and stated that his work at SOSA (The Society Of Spoken Art) is satisfying enough for him when it comes to working with other lyricists. SOSA is an organization in Chicago that provides mentorship from established rappers to aspiring ones. The curriculum entails guided activities, discussion panels, and networking programs, and has been curated by scholars at Harvard, MIT, and the University of Pennsylvania.

Later on in the conversation, Fiasco admitted that he originally didn’t want to do the guest feature on Kanye West’s “Touch The Sky” but his business partner Chill convinced him to.

Fiasco’s fan Q&A kicked off when he responded to a tweet from @jtmedena, who asked him about his thoughts on the GOAT rapper. After Fiasco picked JAY-Z, he clarified his statement a bit and said finding the best rapper is “undeterminable.”

He followed up by saying that Nas and Eminem round out his personal Top 3 of living rappers.

Fiasco has said in the past that It Was Written is his favorite Hip-Hop album and has compared his albums in the past to it. He also put out a mixtape titled It Was Written with Mick Boogie in 2006.

He also praised Kendrick Lamar, putting him somewhere within his Top 40.

          1. Dope verses is what makes you on top, not concepts and accolades….kendrick is waaaayyy overrated but faaarrr from wack….but lupe is right, he cracks the top 40, top 50 to me….no hate just facts

I challenge anyone to post something kendrick ever said that makes one go “whoaaaaa” and rewind and rewind…top emcess do that, they say shit that makes you have to stop the track and listen to over and over……kool g rap is the greatest rapper of all time, dude is 50 something and still spits like he chewing tobacco…greatest of all time is kool g rap, anyone disagree is either young or dont know hiphop

    1. Lupe is right. King HOV is the definite GOAT. All the Nas and Kendrick stans are mad in the comments. Broke woman beater Nas isn’t even in the top 100. Only has the most overrated album of all time to his name, chooses the worst beats mankind has ever heard, and always flip flops on his rapping topics (Oochie Wally or One Mic?). All of King HOV’s albums are masterpieces, has many lyrical dynamics, and his best picking is always on point. Bow down to the King. It’s the ROC!

        1. Start with reasonable doubt. Theres more to his music, than songs like big pimpin. And its not like others weren’t making big pimpin like songs.

          1. reasonable doubt is ass. I’ve tried to listen a few times. It’s just not good. Beats are lames too. I never cared for street shit go matter how slick anyone says it. I was on being fly getting hoes and legit paper….so meh

            1. Lmao Jay was on that same ish. Didn’t have as much street content/focused music as his peers. Most pf it was reminiscing on his past. Its not your preference though. And I’m assuming you didn’t listen to about 85 percent of hip-hop. Most of it glorified selling illegal drugs, gang/mob violence, and spending money recklessly.

          2. Jay has numerous corny fkn songs like Big Pimpin’. He has more trash albums than most in hip hop. A terrible ratio of good-bad.

            1. Umm no he doesn’t. His only “trash albums” are BP3 and Magna Carta. Other than that, every other album had at least one classic song on it.

        2. That’s a hook, you dumbass. I don’t have time to school your ass. Listen to his music, don’t skim through it.

    2. Lupe Fiasco still kicking and pushing through the Hip Hop Culture hopeful he’ll run into the Dungeon Family and kick it with them for a moment .I remember buying Lupe Fiasco first album at A Target in Atlanta check my credit history .

    3. Off the top I can’t even think of a time when Lupe appeared on someone else’s track other than “Touch the Sky”, but I feel like there are others I just can’t recall. Matter of fact, he rarely has other rappers featured on his albums. F&L had JayZ, I think that’s it. The Cool had Snoop. Lasers I don’t remember because that album was ass. F&L2 had no rap features, I’m almost positive. Tetsuo was really experimental and I didn’t f with it, so I don’t remember but I think that one had no rap features unless they were guys I didn’t know about. Drogas Light was awful, so I have no idea who was on it. And none of his Farenheit mixtapes had any either I believe. I never realized how non-featured Lupe is.

    4. GOAT lists and all that shit is wack. It’s good music/not good music. People who make those lists and shit are looking for validation from somebody else on what sounds good to them. If I listen to you rshit and am feeling it, that’s good enough because I don’t need to be breaking down some remedial rappers’ lyrics and shit trying to decode some shit to feel like that makes them great. Some dudes use simple words and make good music, and some dudes get complex with it. Still all comes down to if I will still want to listen to that shit 5, 7, 10 years down the road or not and how many of those songs you got in your catalogue.

    5. I think lupe is being black listed by jay z, no way an emcee of his caliber calls jay the goat, jay’s first album was top 5 hiphop album of all time, then he went super commercial and dumbed down his lyrics, and nas proved to the hiphop world that lyrically jay was not an elite….jay is a master marketer and has the respect of a lot of hiphop peole, but goat he is not…and he was once my fav rapper. You can not be the goat if you still the style of someone else…you have to have your style be stolen from for you to be the goat….only one that stole jay’s style is wayne….now kool g rap fathered many of your fav emcees, so no question that your fav rapper has kool g as their fav….lupe has songs like mural that should be in a museum, that is not even human like, and he saying jay the goat…something is not right…jay’s git candles blowing up his ass nowadays

      1. Thats because Lupe recognizes real. He patterned his style after hov (Lupe is the nerd version of Jay). Ended up being a better lyricist in the process. He did what artists are supposed to do. Take/learn from the old, create something new. Its a reason guys from method man, royce 5’9, EM, Lupe, and others recognize Jay as one of the best lyricist.

      1. Lmao let me guess, you think that spot belong to one of these hypocritical, part time pro black, dusty production having motha fuckers right? (DR.Dre voice)

    6. There’s a difference between greatest and best. Jordan has the greatest NBA career, when it comes to pure skill and talent, he’s not the best. Brady/Montana have the greatest NFL QB careers, when it comes to skill and talent they’re not the best. Jay Z has done too much for him not to be the greatest, it shouldn’t even be a discussion at this point, he’s almost 50 and the world still cares to listen. That doesn’t mean he’s the best at sheer rapping skill though…that’s a different discussion entirely, although he still should rank high in that bracket too…

      1. well said, even though I would rank him at number 1 in terms of rapping skill. In context, I’m looking at his whole career and not just 2018. He’s done the rapid fire flow, the slow flow, the boom bap, the lyrical miracle, and he is one of the reasons so many rappers rap the way they do today.

        1. the way you described his styles sounds like a 13 year old who knows little bout spittin. You forgot about jays new style, old ass man.
