Lupe Fiasco has defended his decision to not sign a fan’s sneakers at a recent concert earlier in May.
The Chicago rapper responded to a tweet on Thursday (May 18) calling him out for allegedly cursing out a fan who asked him to sign his Nike SBs.

“@LupeFiasco also a few days ago at the free concert he had cussed my homie put cause asked lupe to sign his sbs got mad they wasnt his sz or something called him a bastard hella shit,” the fan wrote on Twitter.
The 41-year-old clarified that he indeed declined to sign the pair of kicks and doesn’t want to at future shows, but it was all done in a joking matter as the fan had a laugh at the exchange as well.
“That’s cap…I was joking with dude…he was laughing too…nobody took that serious but you… And just fyi to fans,” Lupe wrote. “I don’t like signing shoes and while I was joking with the kid at the show…I really don’t like signing shoes for people…bring whatever but shoes are a no no!”
With a few Converse sneaker collaborations under his belt, fans wanted to know if those would fall under the no-sneaker autograph rule, but they’ll have to find out for themselves down the line.
While he won’t be signing sneakers, it’s still shaping up to be a busy summer for Lupe Fiasco. Prior to hitting the road with Dirty Heads and Yelawolf for a tour across the Midwest and East Coast, Lupe is slated to perform at California’s Bottlerock 2023 festival and then at Arizona’s Gila River Resorts & Casinos with B.o.B during Memorial Day Weekend (May 26-28).
Although, earlier in May, the “Kick, Push” rhymer clarified that there are only a few things in life he cares about at the moment such as his gig at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and The Society Of Spoken Art.
“As a rapper in this stage of my life all I really care about is lyrics, SOSA & MIT,” Lupe wrote on Twitter. “I don’t care about sales, lists, radio stations, podcasts, playlists, beats, choruses, hooks, features, videos, contracts, advances, awards, views, follower counts, battles or interviews. Joy.”
