Top Dawg Entertainment rapper REASON dropped a new single earlier this week called “The Soul Pt. 2” ahead of his forthcoming album. The track came with a blatant Logic diss in the second verse that ultimately landed on Logic’s radar.
“N-ggas pronounce my name wrong, tell me that I ain’t did much,” he raps. “See y’all mistake my name for Logic’s, y’all got me fucked up/How you compare a n-gga that take from the culture/Versus a n-gga that’s for it? This shit getting boring.”
After fans starting talking about it on Twitter, REASON pointed out he wrote the song a year ago, well before Logic announced his rap retirement.
“I’ll talk about the logic thing if necessary later,” he wrote in a since-deleted tweet. “But I do wanna make clear I didn’t wait til he retired to take a shot. I wrote this shit a year ago. That’s corny to do that now after he’s announced retirement. Take care, enjoy the music!”
During a live Twitch session, the Def Jam rapper was asked if he heard it.
“Did REASON diss you on his new song?” he said, reading the screen. “I don’t know who that is.”
Logic is often the subject of ridicule and has taken plenty of verbal lashings from Joe Budden. The criticism from the former Everyday Struggle co-host got so bad at one point, Logic admitted his words make people want to “kill themselves.”
But the Maryland-born artist has seemingly put that all behind him and is focused on his wife and child as well as his seven-figure deal with Twitch.
REASON, on the other hand, is expected to deliver New Beginnings on October 9. In the meantime, check out “The Soul” sequel below.
He’s not the only one. REASON is a shittier Jay Electronica, he makes a song every decade lol. For real though, nobody cares about REASON and they definitely dont care about REASON vs Logic. Logic grew up in and promoted the culture in a positive way. Yes he can be corny, but he’s minding his business and this guy takes a shot out of nowhere. He uses his platform to go on tour and bring young rising stars and also no-name guys to give everybody some shine, I dont know how that is taking from the culture. Pure crabs in the bucket mentality from Reason, can’t let a fellow black man succeed, he gotta pull him down. Smh
Damn I miss 90’s early 2G hiphop….
Because that is when you were a kid?
TDE is probably the most hands on and secretive when it comes to their music… this could have not came out or been re-recorded… they knew what they were doing… shame. *game of thrones*
But…isn’t Logic half? Tf with this diss?
This logic hate needs to stop. People should admire him, he won the game of hip-hop. Came in did it his way, became successful, made his money. Now he has a family and decided being a rapper/artist was not something he wanted to continue to do full time. So he took a different career approach, got a bag with his twitch deal. He can support his family still and be around them on a consistent basis. He won the game, while most are praying to find a extra life and keep playing
Love tde but reason looks like a salty hater here. criticize logic as you will but reason has accomplished way less and has no ground to diss anyone before having any success or even releasing an album. Just because you’re with one of the best groups doesn’t mean you’re at their level yet. I think this will hurt him in the long run.
U must aint heard “There You Have It”
‘U must aint heard’ ? erm … what?
That’s disrespectful on Reason’s part. Reason sounds familiar. off this fu$&ery Im not checking for Reason. And Im not even a Logic fan. But Reason dissed someone and got ignored. That dude should drop an album.
“Did REASON diss you on his new song?” he said, reading the screen. “I don’t know who that is.” / HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!! You just kilt a naqqa! HAHAHAHAAA!!!
Oh shit, i wonder what FL studio has to say about this.
