Yesterday, MTV reported that singer Lloyd has inked a deal with Interscope Records. Formerly an artist signed to Irv Gotti‘s Murder Inc., Lloyd spent most of his career at Universal Motown, where of recent, he began a strong association with Lil Wayne’s Young Money label.
Most notably, Lloyd had a heavy hand in 2009 hit “Bedrock” with the members of Young Money. “I love the way Interscope gets down. I love the way Jimmy [Iovine, label head] gets down. I’ve always had a good working relationship with Polow [da Don, producer]. Having that creative partner is something I wanted to have, since the very beginning, to have that one creative partner,” Lloyd told MTV.
The singer said he expects to release his first Interscope album this year, and said that his decision not to sign with Young Money had a lot to do with the fact that he would remain at Universal Motown.

How are people going to talk down on the south? THe greatest rapper alive, Jay-Z, even said if he had sense he’d rap like Common, but Common don’t make no cents. Even thought Jay is a great rapper, he knows what to do and say to make money. Who from the north, west or midwest is talking about something. Lloyd is a very talented artist, true all of his songs havent been hits but he has an unique voice and is still fairly new to the game. He’s been hopping from label to label but once he gets established he is gonna blow up…one of the most under rated rnb artists out now.

I really think Lloyd is a good artist and yes, he defo has a unique voice. the only thing is hes been changing from label to label so obviously it wont be easy to release a hit. he just needs to find a good label where he can settle but otherwise hes songs are really good. he just needs to keep on releasing them songs and albums and not go too quiet for too long coz then ppl forget bwt u when u go quiet for too long. really, he shud just keep on, and he’l keep rising next thing hez the IT thing of r n b. but i love him and i hope he doesnt go quiet for too long again, hope he actually starts working on a new album soon.
