Lizzo Says Body-Shaming Is Making Her ‘Hate The World’ & Want To Quit Music

Lizzo has never been one to shy away from addressing her haters — however, according to the singer’s recent social media posts, the constant barrage of negative comments has her questioning if it’s time to step away from music.

After Candace Owens — a right-wing commentator who’s critiqued her weight in the past — blasted Lizzo for blocking her on Twitter, the “Special” singer caught wind of her comments and decided to address them head-on.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday (May 31), Lizzo spoke out against some of the harsh critiques she’s received regarding her weight. Notably, she admitted that negative comments online were starting to get to her and were causing her to “hate the world.”

While many folks have accused her of being “unhealthy,” the singer says she is quite health-conscious and is focused on simply trying to live her best life, no matter her size.

At one point, Lizzo even claimed that she has considered “giving up on everyone” and quitting the music business to “enjoy my money, and my man, on a fucking farm.” The singer also took a moment to note that “being fat is not her brand” and that it just happens to be how her body looks.

As of now, the singer has locked her Twitter and put it on private mode.

Lizzo took it a step further with a post she made via Instagram, where she said that online trolls “make it hard for fat people to exist.”

Lizzo has been a big proponent of self-love and acceptance, often speaking out about fat-shaming, racism, and more. It wasn’t too long ago when she clapped back at Kanye West — amid his anti-Semitic rampage last October — for attacking her personal appearance.

According to footage obtained by TMZ around that time, the “Juice” singer took the time to address Kanye during a performance at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

“I feel like everybody in America got my motherf—ing name in their motherf—ing mouth for no motherf—ing reason,” Lizzo said to the crowd.

“I’m minding my fat Black beautiful business,” and then asked the audience, “Can I stay here? Who can I marry for that dual citizenship?”

In the past, Lizzo has expressed that there are “real problems” that people need to call out but claimed that cancel culture has “robbed” marginalized communities’ ability to do so.

    1. Well stop flaunting your obese, unhealthy body and then getting all upset when people have an opinion on it.. maybe put some of the energy you use constantly whinging into a fitness regime and get healthy and quit trying to make people think it’s good to be overweight!!

    2. Why not quit eating instead ? Even if you were able to convince the world fat is beautiful, it leads to ugly health problems.

    3. Maybe if you went on a diet and exercise and stop skinny shaming people then maybe your outlook on life would be much more positive and healthier.

    4. Good then go graze somewhere else…also he’s not your boyfriend… he’s your handler since you are a 🦛 and he’s a zoologist.

    5. “Quit body shaming”…. okay. Then why is the US government trying to kick chocolate milk outta public school lunches like Obama did (Trump axxed that)? First off, school lunch isn’t the obesity problem. Home life is. With that said, America is now seeing nearly 50% of all people above age 30 being obese. It’s not body shaming. It’s about health. There’s a reason people aren’t attracted to obese people. Because our brains are hard wired to be attracted to healthy, physichally ambitious people. Also, don’t flaunt your body in tight cloths in public if you don’t want people to make comments about the way you look. As a man, before I go out into public, I shower, slick back my hair nicely, shave, etc. Because I understand people will judge me based on the way I look, which is common sense, as humans like to avoid danger, weirdos, and losers, and prefer to be around people who look nice, smell nice, and act with respect.

    6. The problem is she making out it’s normal to have a body like that. Reality always slaps you in the face at some point. It could be high blood pressure.. diabetes..cancer etc. No amount of word salad changes that. Only in the west do we promote it as normal. We get dumber by the year.

    7. If Lizzo doesn’t like being treated like a fat person then she should do what needs to be done to not be fat. Being overweight isn’t healthy. I’m 40lbs over weight and it’s not healthy. Also…..she’s not the first fat artist. Ask Martha Wash about her journey. At least Lizzo gets to perform and be seen. Martha Wash was recasted in music videos while the model lipsyced her voice. Lizzo needs to take accountability and stop being a victim.

    8. Lizzo is morbidly obese. Also she is talentless. Bet she could win a hot dog eating contest though.
