Lil Wayne Details Kendrick Lamar Convo About Super Bowl, Addresses Possible Cameo

Lil Wayne has revealed that he and Kendrick Lamar have spoken following the drama surrounding next year’s Super Bowl halftime show.

Earlier this year, Kendrick was announced as the headliner of the big game, which takes place on February 9 in Wayne’s hometown of New Orleans.

Weezy made his disappointment at the snub public, which K. Dot addressed on his latest album GNX — prompting the Young Money legend to seemingly hit out at his “Mona Lisa” collaborator on social media.

Now, during an interview with Skip Bayless, Wayne has confirmed that he and Kendrick have spoken and there’s no bad blood between them.

“I’ve spoken to him and I wished him all the best and told him he better kill it. He gotta kill it,” he said.

Lil Wayne was also asked about Lamar rapping about the topic on his GNX track “wacced out murals” and admitted that he hadn’t actually heard the song, despite his aforementioned outburst following the album’s release.

After Skip read out the lyrics in question, Wayne said: “That was my first time hearing it. I think he’s a fan like I’m a fan of his music. I think he meant he saw what everyone else saw, he saw how much it meant to me […] He didn’t let me down.”

He added: “There was no explanation that was needed for that. I think I understand those words. His hard work is the reason why he made it there, and obviously that part about letting me down is me just being upset and disappointed about not getting that spot.”

Weezy was also asked about the possibility of him performing at the Super Bowl as a special guest, given he and Kendrick collaborated on Tha Carter V. However, he quickly shut the idea down, saying that he “not even gonna be in the country” when the game takes place.

On “wacced out murals,” Kendrick Lamar rapped: “Used to bump ‘Tha Carter III,’ I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down,” referencing the rap icon’s admission that he was “hurt” by being overlooked for the Super Bowl halftime show.

Wayne didn’t appear to take kindly to the song as he fired off an angry post on X (formerly Twitter) shortly after, saying: “Man wtf I do?! I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head. Let’s not take kindness for weakness.”

He then warned: “Let this giant sleep. I beg u all. No one really wants destruction, not even me but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love.”

It was later claimed by Joe Budden that Kendrick had ignored a phone call from Wayne to address the matter, after which Weezy “went in the booth” to record a response track.

However, it now appears there was no truth to that rumor.

    1. People made up whole scenarios and shit like Joe Budden’s hoe ass. SMH. None of the shit Wayne said was directed at Kendrick Lamar.

      1. @officer Ricky, fo real. When Wayne said “ain’t nuff milk in muh mufuckin glass”, what he REALLY meant was “fuck Dat nigguh K Dot!”. Deciphering their language is challenging but very rewarding.

    2. So him and drake are both going to make sure they’re too busy to watch the Superbowl? 😂 Cornballs both of em. No wonder they’re boys.

    3. Skip Bayless introducing Lil Wayne to a Kendrick Lamar line referencing him wasn’t on my 2024 Bingo card. That said, I don’t believe that’s the first time he heard the line and is either trying to save face or the lean is fucking with his memory.

    4. So Wayne just listening to rumours now before going on a passive aggressive rant? I swear, Ive had it with 90% of the game. All hoes.

    5. Wayne’s prime was something else, but the guy is such a diva. From being late to concerts, to walking off stage, to him crying about the superbowl. He makes it really hard to be a fan.

    6. And it went something like this: “yo nigg@”, “sup nogg@”, “u no dem nigg@s that wuz doing dat?”, “yea nigguh”, “aight nigg@, peace out”
