Kendrick Lamar Addresses Lil Wayne’s Super Bowl Comments & Snoop Dogg’s Drake Support

Kendrick Lamar‘s new album GNX is here — and it finds him candidly addressing two of his Hip Hop heroes in Lil Wayne and Snoop Dogg.

On the opening song “wacced out murals,” the Compton rap star finally responds to the backlash surrounding his upcoming Super Bowl halftime show, specifically the notion that he denied Lil Wayne the opportunity to headline the big game in his hometown of New Orleans.

“Used to bump Tha Carter 3, I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down / Whatever, though, call me crazy, everybody questionable / Turn me to an Eskimo, I drew the line and decimals,” he raps.

K.Dot later spits: “Won the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me / All these n-ggas agitated, I’m just glad they showed they faces / Quite frankly, plenty artists but they outdated / Old-ass flows, tryna convince me that you they favorite / This is not for lyricists, I swear it’s not the sentiments / Fuck a double entendre, I want y’all to feel this shit.”

The lyrics reference a video that the Young Money legend posted on Instagram in September expressing his disappointment at not being selected to perform at next year’s Super Bowl, a gig he had openly coveted.

In the clip, a somber-sounding Wayne admitted that he was “hurt” and left “broken” over the perceived snub, adding: “I thought there was nothing better than that spot and that stage and that platform in my city.”

Many of Weezy’s peers also openly criticized the NFL’s decision to not book the “A Milli” hitmaker, including Nicki Minaj, Birdman, Cam’ron, Juvenile and Master P.

Elsewhere on “wacced out murals,” whose title nods to a Compton mural of Kendrick being defaced by a Drake fan earlier this year, the Pulitzer Prize winner shares his thoughts on Snoop Dogg’s support of the 6 God.

“Snoop posted ‘Taylor Made,’ I prayed it was the edibles / I couldn’t believe it, it was only right for me to let it go,” he raps, indicating that he has since gotten over the perceived slight.

“Taylor Made” is, of course, a reference to Drake’s controversial diss song “Taylor Made Freestyle,” which featured AI-generated vocals from Snoop Dogg and 2Pac, two of Kendrick’s favorite artists.

After the song’s release, Tha Doggfather posted a video of his somewhat bemused reaction in which he said: “They did what? When? How? Are you sure? [Sigh] Y’all have a good night. [Laughs] Why everybody calling my phone, blowing me up?”

He later appeared to co-sign the track, which has since been taken down to a legal threat from 2Pac’s estate, by posting it on his Instagram Stories and writing: “90s Hip Hop Forever.”

    1. Wayne works hard for decades and still has never been to the superbowl. Kendrick got his fame off of crapping on others and ripping off icecube and snoop dogg and has somehow been to the superbowl twice.

      1. by “works hard for decades,” have you seen footage of Wayne performing (or trying to perform) lately? dude forgets his lyrics, mumbles, has no vocal clarity nor stage presence. not exactly good qualities to have for someone on the super bowl stage, especially to headline it.

      2. Wayne has always been overrated kid. Only kids born in the late 90s and early 2000s consider him dope and label him the “goat”. But true hip hop heads never listened to this motherfucker’s music like that. He raps like an average rapper at best. So get over yourself bitch.

      1. I don’t know what that has to do with those Mustard beat songs being wack as shit. The other shit on the album is cool. You need to stop identifying with these rappers. They don’t give a fuck about you.

    2. Kendrick is done keep Wayne’s name out your mouth. You sold out to Jay-Z we get it your mentor was Dre who’s a member of that group you manipulated people with the conspiracy stuff you really don’t believe. I mean you worked with Disney on music it’s clear as day what you are. New Orleans won’t take kindly to this disrespect he may want to reconsider doing the Super Bowl. Wayne had no hate towards Kendrick neither did anyone else except maybe Drake but instead of understanding Wayne is the Louisiana hero he did this. You called Drake out but won’t call our Jay-Z over this or your own mentor Dr Dre who does similar things as Drake like abandoning multiple kids also abusing women and probably killing Eazy with Ice Cube’s help.
