Wayne reacted to the news with a mix of shock, excitement and gratitude, taking the opportunity to thank his fans in an Instagram post celebrating his achievement.

Released in March 2008, “Lollipop” served as the lead single from Lil Wayne’s momentous sixth album Tha Carter III. Featuring Static Major, who tragically passed away just 16 days prior to its release, the song spent five weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 and took home Best Rap Song honors at the 2009 Grammy Awards.

With his inaugural diamond plaque, Weezy now joins his Young Money protégés Drake and Nicki Minaj in the exclusive club of rap acts with at least one diamond single.

Other artists to have achieved the feat include Eminem, Kanye West, Cardi B, Travis Scott, XXXTENTACION, French Montana, Roddy Ricch, Wiz Khalifa, Lil Uzi Vert and Juice WRLD.

Tunechi could soon add to his collection of diamond plaques as Tha Carter III currently sits at 8x-platinum and “A Milli,” which is also from the album, is 6x platinum.
