Lil Wayne and Producer Jim Jonsin End Royalty Dispute Over “Lollipop”

One of Lil Wayne‘s biggest hits in recent years was 2008’s “Lollipop” . Produced by Jim Jonsin, the song propelled Wayne’s music of the year into the mainstream with his massive multi-platinum Tha Carter III album. Among other producers associated with the Cash Money/Universal Motown Records album, Jim Jonsin later said that he was unpaid for the hit single, and filed a lawsuit.

After Bangladesh cleared up a similar dispute last week in after the popular new single “6’7″” hit the Internet and iTunes, Jim Jonsin has now said that a newly-freed Wayne agreed to terms with the Florida-based hit-maker and B.o.B. mentor.

“We worked out an arrangement,” Jonsin told The Broward Palm Beach New Times. “They’re giving me some money now, and will pay the balance in the first or second quarter next year. I never had an issue with [Lil] Wayne, he and I were cool. It’s just there was some confusion owing to [clearance issues with] a sample from another song I made for him [‘I Feel Like Dying’].”

    1. I hope Carter IV is not simply a re-edition of Carter III, even if Wayne is more focused and clever. first we have 6’7″ secong coming aof a milli (yeah, it’s better than the original), now what, a new lollipop? i hope not.

    2. Wayne brings out Gunz on 6’7″…why didn’t he introduce Gunz to the world on “A Milli”?..IMO Gunz went in heavier than Wayne on that track a la Em on Renegade going in better than HOV..again just my opinion
