Lil Uzi Vert Updates Instagram Bio With They/Them Pronouns

Fans noticed Lil Uzi Vert had an update for his 16.1 million Instagram followers on Sunday (July 17) — they now want to be referred to by the gender pronouns they/them.

Gender pronouns are the terms people choose to reflect their gender identity. Instagram began adding the optional pronoun labels in May 2021 so users can gender identify themselves in their profiles. People can add up to four gender identities in their bios, including he/him, she/her or gender-neutral pronouns such as they/them.

Lil Uzi Vert didn’t offer an explanation as to why they decided to change their pronouns from he/him to they/them, but some fans are speculating it’s simply to show support for the trans community. The timing is interesting considering Dave Chappelle is currently under scrutiny by the trans community once again after his Netflix special Closer was nominated for an Emmy Award.

“Gender is a fact,” he said in the special. “Every human being in this room, every human being on earth, had to pass through the legs of a woman to be on earth. That is a fact.” He then went to make explicit jokes about the bodies of trans women, which the trans community didn’t appreciate.

Weeks after the backlash — which included a walk-out at Netflix — Chappelle made an Instagram video in which he agreed to meet with members of “the transgender community” but was adamant he wouldn’t be “bending to anybody’s demands.”

He added, “It’s been said in the press that I was invited to speak with transgender employees at Netflix and I refused. That is not true. If they had invited me I would’ve accepted, although I am confused about what we’re speaking about.”

As for Lil Uzi Vert, they’ve been dating City Girls rapper JT since 2019. They were filmed cheering her on during her performance at the Wireless Festival earlier this month. More recently, Uzi surprised fans with a new single called “Space Cadet,” which they announced on Twitter with, “I am a Space cadet the geek that real,” alongside several emoji. Check it out below.

    1. Been told y’all that this n**** was a fruit loop since day one. Following the Diddy play book by hooking up with girls with strap-on and men too. Lil Yachty and Trippie Red are another one too.

      1. Both Lil Pu$$y Hur+z and Senator Lindsey Graham like their playmates they do their favorite 90s r and b group…. Boys to Men.

    2. This weirdo ain’t surprising anyone, damn it’s a shame what this hip hop game has become with all these gender benders ..nobody about making hot shit I’m the studio , errbody just wanna be different and cool and ghey.. smh

    3. It’s because Little Lucifer is owned by the satanic oligarchs. Say it fast LUL UZI VERT

      LILLICIFER KILLUMINATI

    4. I blame Diddy for starting this crap. He went from hugging and dancing all over and around men, to just being gay AF to selling his own brand of gay designer clothes to saying he’s gender fluid and calling himself brother love. Now we got a rap game full of pansies that can’t even stand up to piss.

    5. He looks like he was born out of somebody’s butt. He’s a butt baby. Definitely wouldn’t be surprised if he was a Non-Biodegradable Transgender Homoflexual Dinosaur.

    6. Hiphop is ruined. These things cause I cant say exactly what they are anymore ruined the image of this genre. Disgusting

    7. Why didn't the geniuses that came up with this pronoun crap just request to be referred to by their name? says:

That bs about pronouns like they and them is the stupidest shit ever, who came up with this idea and why did everyone support it instead of calling it out on how illiterate the concept is. So in the future in school are we gonna teach kids to speak like this? So you combine plural and singular when talking about an individual, how ridiculous is that? Sentences like, they is gonna be there, or what is them doing, do you change it to sound like it’s a group of people instead of just one so people are further confused? Or do you just let it sound illiterate regardless of how stupid you come off? Would’ve been much smarter to say just use my name when referring to me

      1. Because they want DRAMA and ATTENTION, and to be treated like they’re special so if you have anything negative to say about them they can cry and try to cancel you
