Lil Uzi Vert is working to protect the identity of the top-notch features on their new album by taking extra steps to ensure it stays out of the prying hands of hackers.

Uzi took to Instagram Live last week where they played unreleased music for fans and provided a time frame for the project’s release. They also unveiled a unique chain featuring a flash drive in place of a pendant, which contains the sought-after files for their forthcoming third album.

The Pink Tape, I keep it on a chain,” they said while holding up the flash drive and white-beaded chain. “It’s going to Elliot [Eliantte] tomorrow so he can put pink diamonds all on it. I keep it on a chain. This the whole Pink Tape right here, it’s on a chain.

“I ain’t been wearing no jewelry because this is more expensive than every chain that I got. This right here, this little thing right here. I wear it every day.”

Rocking his vintage purple dreads, the Philly rapper then doubled down on their promise that The Pink Tape will arrive at the end of June. “The album is coming at the end of this month,” they declared. “I can’t hold off no more. Like, you know me, I’m crazy. Even if I have to drop it myself, it’s coming out at the end of the month.”

In other related news, Uzi recently admitted that “Just Wanna Rock” remains “unfinished” in their eyes, despite the single’s massive Billboard success.

The Philadelphia rapper dropped off “Just Wanna Rock” last October, and the Jersey Club-infused song quickly became an unusual chart-topping anthem, peaking at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 and selling over a million copies by December. The track was certified platinum by February 2023.

Despite this blockbuster success, Uzi admitted in a new interview with 032c magazine that the song is technically “unfinished.”

“Yeah, I make experimental music,” Uzi admitted. “That song is definitely unfinished. The end of the beat is messed up too.”

They continued by speaking about the song’s Jersey Club influence and said they simply chose a beat that sounded “the most fun.” Uzi added that the fancy viral footwork seen in the “Just Wanna Rock” music video should also come as no surprise considering the rapper’s background as a dancer.

“People forgot I was a dancer before I was a rapper,” Uzi said. “I didn’t make any of this up, that’s how cool kids from Philly and Jersey dance – so I’m only a product of my environment. I’m just shining a light on that culture.”
