Lil Durk has clapped back against Donald Trump’s comments as it pertains to the violence in his hometown of Chicago.
Over the weekend, Durkio sat down for an interview with MSNBC’s Ari Melber and responded to comments made by the former U.S. president about Chicago being a murder capital of America.
“I really don’t pay it no mind,” Durkio said. “Cus it’s murder everywhere. You could get self-defense anywhere, you could get killed anywhere, you could get stabbed anywhere. You could choke anywhere, you could kidnap anywhere.
“It’s just every city has the moment of the rates. If you look up right now who got the most murder rate I bet you it ain’t Chicago. Then the story transpire to that city. That’s why I never comment on it because every city has its day.”

While critics may go after Durk for some of the violence in his lyrics, his perspective is different as someone who lived in Chicago and gives back to his hometown through endeavors like his Neighborhood Heroes non-profit.
“I feel we could say what we gon’ say to save him,” he continued. “It’s different when you up close and personal with them. It’s different when you doing non-profit like the Neighborhood Heroes and you in one of the worst neighborhoods in Chicago giving out turkeys or bookbags or showing them how to open up bank accounts to save money.”
On the music side, Lil Durk has been busy as he gears up to close out 2023. He channeled his inner Tha Carter II era Lil Wayne for his “Smurk Carter” single and then joined Bump J and Ty Dolla $ign to lend an assist on Kanye West’s comeback track “Vultures.”
The song was played by Ye’s longtime friend DJ Pharris of Chicago radio station WPWX Power 92, according to Variety. Pharris has known Kanye since 1996 and according to many, was the first DJ to play a Kanye West production on the radio.
Durk also teamed up with his Only The Family on Friday (November 17) to unleash their Nightmares In The Trenches compilation album.
They need more cops. A lot of them.

It has the potential to be a great city again but the black community, despite their many great hardworking people and community leaders doing their best, can’t stop the gang violence.
