The life of Lil Dicky will be the premise of a new comedy on FX, according to Variety.
The prospective series revolves around a neurotic suburban man in his late 20s who believes he’s one of the best rappers of all time and must convince the world. The comedy is based on a story co-written by Dicky and Jeff Schaffer (creator of FX/FXX’s The League).
Variety reports Dicky — born Dave Burd — will star in the half-hour comedy series, which is set to be executive produced by himself, Kevin Hart and Scooter Braun, among others.
Greg Mottola, director of Superbad, will take the reins of the show’s first episode. Mottola, Marty Bowen, Mike Hertz, James Shin and Scott Manson will also serve as executive producers.
Dicky hit Instagram on Thursday (May 31) to react to the announcement, writing, “I’ve waited my whole life to make this show.”
The currently untitled show will serve as Dicky’s first major acting gig in the world of television and film. He was, however, featured in a commercial for Trojan condoms in 2016 and also contributed to the soundtrack of 2017’s The LEGO Batman Movie, according to IMDb.
Dicky released his latest single, “Freaky Friday,” back in March. The Chris Brown-assisted song is Dicky’s highest-charting single on the Billboard Hot 100 to date, peaking at #8. “Freaky Friday” has also been certified platinum by the RIAA.

Does anyone besides drake fans listen to this guy? Dude clearly feels weird about being around black people and even worse, he’s not funny. He’s like a worse Asher Roth, at least Asher Roth wasn’t a condescending asshole without the talent to back it up. Fuck this guy.
Respect the opinion famo. I’m not a Drake fan, but I fuck with Lil Dicky. Too many people expecting every track, every verse, every hook to be FIRE!! LD will never be the goat, but life is too serious man. Its refreshing to listen to someone just having fun with it and doing it well.
I think I have more of a problem with him as a person than with his music, outside of The Brain stuff which I just don’t find funny or interesting in any way. Clearly the guy is capable technically, and if any person but him made his music I’d have less of an issue. I actually didn’t dislike him when he was just essentilly a youtube rapper, but I find his stuff more and more annoying as he goes on, and I definitely feel like he has some weird outsider fascination with black people.
