Lauryn Hill has put her tour with the Fugees on hold for health-related reasons a month and a half after adding more dates to it.

On Tuesday (November 21), the Hip Hop icon addressed her fans in a lengthy social media message to announce that she will be rescheduling the 25-year anniversary tour in celebration of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

“As many of you may know, I’ve been battling serious vocal strain for the past month,” she wrote. “I made it through each show by taking prescribed prednisone, but this can be detrimental to the body when taken in large amounts over long periods of time. In order to prevent any long term negative affect on my voice and my body, I need to take time off to allow for real vocal recovery so that I can discontinue the medication completely.

“For this reason we have to reschedule most of the remaining shows this year. The shows that were cancelled this year will be rescheduled for early 2024 AND because of the overwhelming response, we’ll be adding new cities to the tour, including overseas. We’re working on the new calendar now, and announcing soon.”

The statement also clarifies that Hill and the Fugees will play one final show this year in Philadelphia, which was previously postponed in late October for the same reasons stated above.

“The show in PHILLY this weekend IS STILL HAPPENING,” the 48-year-old confirmed. “We already had to move this show once and being so close to New Jersey, it’s basically hometown for us—so we’ll close out the year with one final show amongst friends and family!”

Lauryn Hill’s shows have a history dating back years of not going as smoothly as fans would like, especially when it comes to the singer/rapper’s tardiness. In response, she took a moment to clap back at her critics during her set in Los Angeles earlier this month.

“They say, ‘Oh, she’s late’ and ‘She’s late tonight,’” she said matter-of-factly. “Yo, y’all are lucky I make it to this bloodclot stage every night. I leave my soul on this stage. And I don’t do it because they let me do it. I do it because I stand here in the name of God. And I know it. God is who allows me to do it.
