Latto has flat-out denied that her latest banger, “Sunday Service,” is a diss track aimed at Ice Spice, despite what listeners might think they heard.

On Friday (February 9), the ClayCo, Georgia representer took to X, formerly Twitter, to respond to Elliott Wilson’s critique of her new song.

The veteran journalist said that “Sunday Service” was a track full of “mid” disses, to which Latto replied, “Who tf ever said it was a diss??? Video at noon I’m finna go live yallllll.”

Despite her adamant tone, the denial is giving off shades of the Nicki Minaj-Megan Thee Stallion “Big Foot” controversy, in which the former denied that the release was a diss track when that clearly wasn’t the case.

Wilson, however, isn’t the only industry insider who believes that “Sunday Service” is aimed at the “Munch” rapper.

Legendary Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex has also said that he may not be able to give the track any play on his radio show because he’s a self-proclaimed fan of Ice Spice.

The legendary DJ took to Instagram on Wednesday (February 7) to reveal a text conversation he’d shared with Kevin Valentini (known as Inca) who is one of Latto’s label reps at RCA Records. Valentini shared that “Sunday Service” would be dropping this weekend, and seemed to ask for Flex’s support.

“I don’t know if I can play that, my brother! I’m from the Bronx!” he replied.

“HAD TO LET @INCA_NY/@RCARECORDS KNOW THAT I AM THE PRESIDENT OF THE ICE SPICE FAN CLUB! PLUS I’M FROM THE BRONX! [crying with laughter emojis],” he wrote in the caption.

The fuel for the beef, however, was added by Latto herself.

The artwork for the track, which was shared on Monday (February 5), features the “Big Energy” rapper in front of a wall of female rappers. Each person on the cover, including Latto herself, has their eyes crossed out by a black line.

Notably, Ice Spice is featured prominently in the top left corner. Other stars like Megan Thee StallionLil KimMissy ElliottSexyy Red, and GloRilla are also included, so the meaning behind the cover remains fairly vague.

In the second slide of Latto’s Instagram post, a caravan of cars rolls through the Bronx — Ice Spice’s hometown — and the Atlanta native can be seen rapping along to her forthcoming single.

Fans noticed Latto’s arrival in the BX earlier this month, with her decision to shoot the visual in the NYC borough perceived by some as a slight against the “Munch” hitmaker.
