KXNG Crooked Says Long Beach, California Is “A Staple In Hip Hop”

Among the numerous topics KXNG Crooked discussed during an interview with Blurred Culture was the impact the city of Long Beach, California has had on Hip Hop. The West Coast wordsmith compared Long Beach to that of a borough and questioned why the city doesn’t get the recognition it deserves despite fostering artists like Warren G, Nate Dogg, and Snoop Dogg.

He later recalled reading one of Russell Simmons’ books and coming across a part of the book in which the Def Jam Records co-founder revealed that Warren G helped save Def Jam. Crooked later declared that he’s the one to “put Long Beach in its proper place in Hip Hop.”

“Long Beach to me is a staple in Hip Hop…In Hip Hop we’re gonna give back credit to Queens before we do to Long Beach,” KXNG Crooked said. “And that’s what I’m saying. We gotta put Long Beach in its proper place in Hip Hop. And I’m here to do that. I’m not even tripping on that…I read the book on the airplane to JFK. I read Russell’s book. Where he expressed in the book that Warren saved Def Jam. And that’s crazy that a West Coast artist saved Def Jam.”

Prior to speaking on Long Beach’s place in Hip Hop, the Slaughterhouse lyricist spoke on music executive Paul Rosenberg. Crooked explained that Rosenberg is unlike any other exec in Hip Hop due to his genuine interaction with artists.

“His accomplishments are crazy,” he said. “A lot of these execs out here, if you pick up the phone and call ‘em or shoot ‘em a text or contact them they might take millions of years to get back to you. Just because of the position and status they got. Not Paul. Paul will hit you back. ‘What’s going on? What’s poppin’?’ No Hollywood shit. And he has a lot of good ideas. Obviously with the ‘Em shit, but even for Slaughterhouse. One thing that I respect the most about Paul is I’m not signed to Shady as a solo artist, so anything I do solo that’s strictly on me. And you know what? Even then he’ll call me. He’ll say ‘What you doing?’ And I’ll say ‘I’m doing this.’ And he’ll say ‘Okay, let me support that.’ Even though he has no business attachment to it at all. And that’s hard to find in this industry.”

    1. by all accounts pauls a good dude and helps, but there will still be a few bums dissin him bc of his skin color in hiphop.

hiphop where racism lives the most

      1. lol @ certain white ppl trying to look like vics all the time. Well if you give hatred, more than likely, someones eventually gonna give it back. Universal law my friend. Miss me with that ‘everybody should love us for no reason’ bullshit. I guess if the caucasian community hadn’t given out so much hate in the first place, they would not receive it back later on down the line. no? Stop being a crybaby & ‘get over it’ like black ppl are told to.

    2. Seriously .. Paul Rosenberg seems LEGIT .. Just listening to the recent interviews and roundtables he’s done .. He sounds mad humble and down to earth — especially given his crazy amount of success .. Eminem + Paul is the dream team preserving the culture of Hip Hop that I Love and preserving the legacies of 2Pac and Biggie .. unlike Jay-Z and Kanye that want to commercialize and monetize the culture by replacement

      1. why would you say such things about jayz and kanye west, their black they have no wrong doing.. you cant criticize birdman either for putting young thug, quan and lil wayne on..you cant criticize TI for putting IGGY on..you certainly cant criticize kanye for putting 2chainz on the map agin…

that would be racist, you need to find a rich white man behind the scenes to hate on..

    3. Long Beach is a staple of poopie. Nothing but crips, beach bums, and ching chongs there. No one cares about Long Beach.
