Krayzie Bone Admits Being Doubtful About Potential Success Of Chamillionaire’s “Ridin’”

Despite later going 4x multi-platinum, Krayzie Bone admits that he was initially doubtful about the potential success of Chamillionaire’s hit single, “Ridin.’”

The track, which served as the second single to Chamillionaire’s 2005 debut album The Sound of Revenge, won a Grammy for the Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group at the 49th Grammy Awards in 2007.

“I did the verse and I didn’t hear nothing else about the song for like two years,” Krayzie Bone said during a newly published interview with VladTV. “It was at least like a year and half [to] two years. And then I get a call one day from my dude Play [and] he’s like, ‘Yo, we think we got one with this song you did.’ I’m like, ‘What song?’ He was like, ‘The song you did with the cat from Houston.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, word? Man, I forgot all about that damn song.’ He was like, ‘It’s getting spins, it’s looking like we gon’ need a video.’ Next thing I know, they calling like, ‘Yo, song is nominated for a Grammy.’ I’m like, ‘What?’ Then I get to the Grammys, and they’re like, ‘Yo, we won the Grammy.’ I was like, this is crazy for a song I didn’t even think was gon’ ever come out. I was tripping.”

Continuing, Krayzie Bone iterated a similar sentiment to that of the song’s producers, Play-N-Skillz, who also felt that the cut wasn’t going to blow up and reach the heights that it later did.

“I never thought nothing was gon’ come from that song, ever,” he said. “That’s one of the best royalty checks ever right there, for real.”

    1. I always thought “Ridin” was a dope ass track, one of those songs I had on repeat back in 2006. BTW, this wasn’t the lead single for Sound of Revenge, that was “Turn It Up” with Lil Flip.

      1. Fun fact: Chamillionaire paid $10k for “Ridin” to Play-N-Skills, while $150k for “Turn It Up” to Scott Storch. A perfect example that regardless of the efforts of the labels and artists, making a hit song is eventually a really unpredicatble game. Oh, and Krayzie was a fool for ever doubting Chamillionaire. He is not only mad underrated when it comes to skills, but simply one of the most intelligent and realest rapper ever.

      2. he didn’t say he doubted him, what would you think if you recorded a song and don’t hear nothing about it for almost two years

      1. Krayzie Booger Bone !!! “U see me rollin, I’m diggin, finger up my nose fuck Dem ho’s I’m tryna find a Boogy”!!!

      1. Do you listen to krayzie bone? prob not its always funny when people try to say some one is washed up and you dont listen to his music and you dont even know what hes got going now. The stuff he records today as a solo artist is better than what he was doing 15 years ago

      2. I agree with you bro I thought Chashing the devil was cool. The music he plays during his periscope session are unreal. I just hope he puts it out.

      3. Dumb kid don’t ever open your mouth to compare future and g eazy to a true legend. Krayzie bone has one song thats better than any album and singles both of these dudes have put out combine
