Kodak Black has been hit with a $10 million lawsuit after two men were shot during a Super Bowl party back in 2022.
The two men, Mark Schaefer and Adam Rahman, originally filed the suit in 2023 after they were shot alongside the rapper.
The men are blaming Kodak for the shooting and are now arguing that he should cough up $10 million as a default judgement since the rapper reportedly failed to respond to the suit.
It would be the third time the men have attempted to impose a default judgement on Kodak.
The rapper’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, dismissed the attempt: “Kodak has never been served with any lawsuit from California. He was never on notice of anything from California. I find it unusual that they’re attempting to sue the very person who was the most injured out of the individuals who got shot.”
Cohen added: “We are not paying them a thing. It’s us who are the victim of a legal assault by these two people. They allege Kodak initiated the altercation that led to the shooting? There is video evidence that shows Kodak running to the scene of a fight to help people getting beat up when the gunfire starts. Kodak gets shot, so they are suing the man who got shot? I don’t understand the lawsuit.”
In total, four people were shot in the incident which took place outside an Italian restaurant in Los Angeles. None of the injuries suffered were judged to be life threatening.
Videos of the incident show a brawl occurring outside of the restaurant with Kodak seemingly in the thick of it.
A number of other high profile figures were also at the party including Justin Bieber, Jeff Bezos, Drake and Khloe Kardashian.
Kodak was hit in the leg during the shooting and later filmed himself in the hospital getting checked out.
In the clip, which he posted on his Instagram Stories, Kodak said: “Whatever, n-gga take his licks. At the end of the day, n-gga ain’t hidin’.” He then points the camera toward his leg, which is bandaged up and settled in a brace.
The shooter is still yet to be identified.
Kodak and friends were never inside at the party with Justin Bieber, Jeff Bezos, Drake, etc.
But I do agree with Kodak’s attorney – the lawsuit makes no sense.
