Kodak Black assured a fan that he wasn’t going to “go out like DMX,” who died in 2021 after suffering a heart attack brought on by a drug overdose – though he also wouldn’t be too mad if he did.

Talking to fans on Instagram Live over the weekend, Yak received a comment from a viewer who was concerned about the rapper’s drug use and compared him to the late Ruff Ryders star.

“Man shut the fuck up. Definitely ain’t going out like DMX,” Yak replied. “He a legend, though. Bitch I’d rather go out like DMX than go out like… [laughs] The fuck? Is you dumb? I do be feeling like DMX though a lot of the time.”

Going live on Instagram while attending a football game, he proudly declared he’s not sober after a fan commented that she loves when he is.

“Bitch, I ain’t sober. I look sober? I’m never sober, bitch,” he replied. “For what? For what? Look at this money. Look at all this cash. Sober for what? I’m too young to die sober.”

He then handed the phone to one of his friends and proceeded to hop over a fence.

As part of Kai Cenat’s 30-day “Mafiathon 2” livestream, Kodak joined earlier that month and raised concerns for his well-being after appearing incoherent – even seemingly popping pills on camera at one point.

One particular moment shows him appearing to “trickshot” a pill before falling to the floor – a move that concerned Cenat as well as viewers.

At another point, the Florida rapper was talking to fans in the Twitch chat while profusely sweating and rambling.

Last April, Kodak admitted that his addiction to Percocet had spiraled to the point he was consuming dozens of pills each day until he was able to get a handle on his habit.

He even expressed regret for rapping about willfully swallowing a fake Percocet pill on his hit song “Super Gremlin” and vowed to never perform the track again.

Despite his attempts to get clean, however, Kodak seemingly relapsed on his sobreity months later in July when he filmed himself swallowing multiple pills, telling viewers he’s “finna glitch right quick.”
