Killer Mike Equates Prison To Slavery, El-P Predicts Fascism

Killer Mike and El-P, who make up the group Run the Jewels, recently spoke about their theories regarding the government.

“I’m not saying every conspiracy is true,” Killer Mike said in a recent interview with Complex. “But just like a cop will tell you, ‘We follow stereotypes because 90 percent of the time, they’re true,’ if I’m living in a country [where] they’ve put smallpox in blankets, allowed Black men to carry syphilis through, purposely raped Black farmers of over 30 million acres of land, I kind of think that you’ll fuck over anybody.”

“When people say, ‘Well, the police and the government will never kill regular citizenry,’ well, what happened to all of those prisoners in New Orleans?” Killer Mike continued. “No one remembers watching the news in New Orleans, when the prisoners were just standing on the fucking expressway? No one ever realizes that they were never talked about again? No one ever realizes that cops were brought up and investigated for murdering them? No one realizes that people become expendable in those types of times.”

After speaking about his distrust of the government, Mike also equated prison to slavery.

“Even Black men being jailed more,” Killer Mike said. “Why is 70-80% of the prison population Black and Latino men? Because it’s slavery. ‘Well, what do you mean?’ No, mothafucker. According to the 13th Amendment, slavery is illegal in these United States unless you are property of the state, meaning in prison. So, it would make sense to me, that there is a population of men who are doubly unemployed, who are non-violent drug offenders…Stop & frisk makes fuckin’ sense because I know that if I lock more of them up, then more free shit is happening.”

Section 1 of the 13th Amendment of the United States Constitution states:

“Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.”

El-P Criticizes President Obama, Discusses “Drones Over BRKLYN”

El-P also addressed various topics in the interview, including details about his song “Drones Over BRKLYN.”

“I don’t write science fiction,” El-P says in the article. “That’s one of the battles, intellectually, that I fought with people who think that I do. I don’t give a fuck about science fiction. To me, the idea of ‘Drones over BKLYN’ is simply the next logical step. I’m just watching what’s happening in the world. I’m saying two plus two is four. Isn’t it? If that’s the case, then four is, you’re flying robots to control a population there, you’re gonna fly robots to control a population here. It’s not magic. It’s not a fuckin’ magic trick. I’m not talking about science fiction. Fuckin’ drones aren’t science fiction. Drones are real.”

El-P also predicted what could happen in the future, based on what he has observed in the world.

“What’s next, if we’re not careful, what’s next is fascism,” El-P said. “The legal framework for fascism has been put into our government, woven into the fabric of our society for the last 10 years, starting with the potentially and probably false…attack of 9/11 and starting with The Patriot Act and Obama, everyone’s hope and savior, is continuing those policies. And they’re getting stronger and they’re getting tighter and they’re clamping down…We’re gonna be in a fascist police state. It’s happening. It’s there.”

Recently, Killer Mike spoke with HipHopDX about various topics, including science fiction and racism.

“In terms of Strange Days, it’s probably like—I go sci-fi but not as gratuitously as my partner is credited for,” Mike said. “[El-P] is into books and shit, but my sci-fi is mainly from television and movies. I’m a big fan of Star TrekStar Wars and Planet Of The Apes—the original two and three movies. I think that those movies—Lord Of The FliesAnimal Farm, the original Star Trek series and the Planet Of The Apes movies—deeply effected me. Reading Animal Farm as a child helped me be conscious of social classes, order and technology—you know—for the purposes of using things and people for slavery. So it just opened my ‘third eye,’ if you will…using a ‘90s term.”

    1. smh. These fools have no idea what they’re talking about.

Everything they think they know about society and future trends are simply false. Correcting their misperceptions is a big task, one I can not take on. The only thing I can do is post vague comments (like this one), expressing my thoughts and reactions (in a very general and loose manner) to Killer Mike and the rest of the clowns he associates with.

    2. these dudes need to keep their voices out of social and political debates. yall just sound dumb as shit. Stick to making music

      1. Hip hop and social commentary go hand in hand and have done so for decades… You’re the only one who sounds dumb as shit here

      2. el-p built his career off this, if it wasn’t for it he wouldn’t even be in the situation he is in.
Most people respect him all the more for it.
Go sing along with your poofter brigade of pop stars.
real men have more important things to say.

    3. Damn keepin it super real. normally I don’t get down on conspiracy shit but I agree with alot of what he’s saying and where we could head. Just look at the NDAA bill that was passed to see where we’re headin.

    4. They’re deluded, but people like them that sound the alarm (most of the time, false alarms) are necessary in a society. They have their role. Just like people who oppose liberalism. Without them we’d have an unbridled liberalism and that ain’t a good thing either.

    5. Why do Killer Mike always go some political shit to say ??? Nigga go be a politician..i don’t understand why u always talkin?? make some hot shit…you whack af in my eyes ..ya mouf keep u relevant huh? fuck u and white rappers and produces..eat a bowl of shit and go to sleep!

      1. Mike continues to speak on the political tip because he really and truly wants you to learn how to read and type in proper grammatical form your jackass

      2. Our country is going to shit slowly, over taxed, bullshit wars, this cycle of poverty that will never be fixed. Wake up,smell the shit around you and i. Just saying.

    6. Noam Chomsky claimed all that 9/11 conspiracy theories is a way of keeping people’s minds off real problems like i.e. the economy, poverty, black on black crime, racism et al. So El-P you had me there for one sec with the drones, but 9//11 shit is more about ineptitude and incompetence than whatever the point you are trying to make.

    7. uptil I saw the paycheck which said $6381, I have faith …that…my mom in-law truley receiving money part time online.. there best friend has done this for less than six months and by now repayed the mortgage on their appartment and purchased a great new Mazda MX-5. take a look at the site here http://www.Fb39.com

    8. How come dumb muhfuckas never see the truth! Open your eyes and see what going on around you. If you don’t notice shit has totally flipped, I feel sorry for you!

    9. “Even Black men being jailed more,” Killer Mike said. “Why is 70-80% of the prison population Black and Latino men? Because it’s slavery.

Why? you ask. Because theyre doing stupid shit you dumb fuck! Stop doing ni99erish shit and you wont be put in jail…THAT SIMPLE!

      1. I’m a white guy and I can tell you for a fact most criminals are white. Period. But minorities are stopped, arrested, charged, and jailed at a much higher rate.

As an example, 1 white guy and 1 black guy using the same illegal drugs, possessing the same amount. The black guy’s about 3-4 times more likely to be caught. Then once he’s caught, he’s more likely to be charged. White guy when caught, is more likely to have charges dropped. Going to trial, white guy is more likely to get probation/treatment. Black guy is more likely to get locked up. Then once he gets locked up and has a record and can’t get a job, what’s he supposed to do?

Even if you consider violent crime- a white guy shoots someone and he’s a patriot protecting his family or property. NRA rallies. Black guy? Oh, he’s just some thug. lock him up. That’s how it works. Rights are not applied equally and neither is punishment.
