Keyshia Cole‘s youngest son’s father, Niko Khale, looks like he’s going to make a full recovery after being stabbed in both the chest and the arm.

On Sunday (July 2), Khale took to Instagram to share photos from the hospital scare, revealing he’d suffered a collapsed lung and a ruptured diaphragm in the melee. Days later, however, he was already able to walk and breathe on his own.

“Got stabbed in my chest and my arm. My lung was punctured and collapsed. My diaphragm was also ruptured,” the “Pretty Boy Floyd” singer wrote. “They had to cut my stomach open and put a tube in my chest so I could breathe. By the grace of God today I’m back on my feet and I am breathing on my own.”

Keyshia Cole went public with Niko, who is 14 years younger than her, in 2018. The pair welcomed their son Tobias in 2019, but then split the following year in 2020. Keyshia also has an older son, Daniel Gibson Jr., with ex-husband and NBA star Daniel “Boobie” Gibson.

Last month, the Oakland native’s long-awaited biopic was finally released and she’s since shared some “could’ve been” details about the project.

Keyshia Cole: This Is My Story premiered on June 21, and the screening was followed by a personal message from the star herself. Among the many subjects she addressed, the prospect of working with late director and producer John Singleton was one that caught everyone’s attention.

“John Singleton, we sat down with him and was supposed to do the movie,” she said. “That didn’t happen then.” Cole then jokingly explained that they chose not to have him on the project because she wanted to play herself in her acting debut whereas he wanted to go in another direction.

“Rest in peace John Singleton,” the Oakland native concluded.

The Lifetime film details the multi-platinum artist’s ascension from a rough childhood in the Bay Area to becoming a colossal public figure.

“Mommy this movie is for you,” she stated in her note after the premiere. “I’ve seen the film five times, so I’ve done a lot of crying and reflecting. For the most part, it’s a reflection of my life and my love I have for my mom. Hate that it ended the way that it did. But the truth is, this is my life.”
