Kevin Durant‘s verse on Stalley‘s recently-released “Scared Money” has gotten the stamp of approval from Grammy Award winner Killer Mike.
The Phoenix Suns player joined forces with the Ohio MC on the new track, which was released on Friday (February 16) along with a music video.

Retweeting a post that asked people’s opinion on KD’s verse, Mike wrote, “Shawty Smooth with the style and slick with the bars. Bravo Brother.”
“And nah, baby, I don’t like bein’ humble, I hang with mongrels,” KD raps on the song. “Gotta pay attention, it’s a god sittin’ amongst you and you know it!”

In a conversation with Billboard, Stalley explained how the song came about.
“One day we was talking and he was like, ‘Yo bro, send me a record to hop on,’” he said. “I had that [beat] sitting not for long [because] I was working on my album. I had just put the hook and verse on it and there was an open verse. I’m like, ‘I’ma send it to him and see what he thinks.’

“He sent it right back,” he added. “He sent it back faster than some rappers.”
This isn’t Kevin Durant’s first foray into the music world by any means. With verses and Executive Producer credits dating back to 2011, KD even recently did a song with Lil Wayne – though it may not be seeing the light of the day after the basketball star let the cat out of the bag too early.

“Why would KD do that? That was on the wrap. See KD, you messed up,” Wayne said with a laugh on Bleacher Report in December. “Now that you done that I just wanted you to know you messed up and that song was considered to be on Tha Carter VI and now that you’ve said something, it’s not going on Carter VI.”
Weezy then revealed that the unreleased track was supposed to land on the Welcome 2 ColleGrove album with 2 Chainz but he ended up saving it for a possible spot on C6.
“It actually was supposed to go on the ColleGrove album that just came out with me and 2 Chainz…but I saved it,” he said.
Wayne lent Durant some high praise while calling him a “jewel” in the studio as an artist and referred to him as a lyrical “backpack rapper” with bars for days.

“KD’s a jewel like something of the past because he’s a backpack rapper,” Wayne added. “You could probably call a timeout in the game and probably ask him to rap and he probably got a verse for you. KD just got bars and it sounds like it.”
