Kendrick Lamar To Release New Music For ‘Captain America’ Movie, Anthony Mackie Reveals

Kendrick Lamar has new music on the way, with Anthony Mackie revealing that the Compton rapper is set to contribute to the new Marvel movie, Captain America: Brave New World.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the actor said: “Kendrick did the title song for my movie. I hope that’s not supposed to be a surprise. I’m breaking it here first. I’m so excited, man.”

There is some confusion as to whether Mackie was referring to “N95,” which was featured in a teaser trailer for the new Captain America.

But given his comment about spoiling the “surprise,” it appears he was talking about a brand new track.

While the song has yet to be officially announced, Captain America: Brave New World hits theaters on Friday (February 14), meaning fans potentially don’t have long to wait to hear it.

It would not be Kendrick’s first collaboration with Marvel after overseeing the soundtrack to 2017’s Black Panther.

It would also add to Lamar’s current hot streak which has seen him sweep the 2025 Grammy Awards and become the first solo rapper to headline the Super Bowl halftime show.

The performance, which included a much-discussed rendition of his hit Drake diss “Not Like Us,” is the most watched Super Bowl show in history with 133.5 million people tuning in — a three percent rise on Usher‘s set last year.

Michael Jackson previously held the record with 133 million viewers at the 1993 Super Bowl.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal after the show, Kendrick’s longtime manager and pgLang co-founder Dave Free detailed the creative process behind the historic performance.

“We wanted this performance to have a cinematic and theatrical element to it. We can confidently say that there’s no Super Bowl performance that’s quite like this one,” he said.

Free added that he and Kendrick prepared for the event by watching every single Super Bowl halftime performance, drawing particular inspiration from BeyoncéPrince and Michael Jackson’s shows.

“The feel of it is Black America. What does Black America look like, and how to control that narrative of what it means to be Black in America versus what the world’s perspective of that is,” he said.

The former TDE executive also addressed the setlist, which mainly featured Kendrick’s Drake diss tracks and songs from his latest album, GNX, saying: “It wasn’t about playing the hits.”

    1. Just going to be another race song, video gonna be bloods and crisps in Compton blood walking or some bullshit we’ve seen 200x over

      1. @L pretty much all my friends used to like Kendrick, like 09-12. They all can’t stand his music now. None were ever Drake fans. Kendrick fans like you are annoying. You take anyone criticizing or disliking kendrick as a kendrick vs Drake bs

    2. That will get buried off the charts once drake unleashes his new album on Friday. The whole country knows kendrick is all hate and little talent after that embarrassing super bowl performance

      1. Yeah right nobody except females and the gay community will listen to this big wet pussy juice music Drake is about to drop on February 14.

      1. If Blade gets made does he have to make a song or will they get Playboi Carti? Guess Kendrick has to work with SZA on something for Iron Heart too. Knowing Disney they’d have him write for Luke Cage too despite him being NY based.

    3. Does Disney have Kendrick on contract or something first Black Panther now this? It’s just weird bro is anti-establishment and does work with them of all companies the most zionistic of the bunch. It’s clear they’re using him to try and get black support. Won’t forget Disney gave black people purple drink and fried chicken for a Black Panther promotion.

      1. Kendrick isn’t anti establishment. He just pushes what he thinks people want to here. He’s a shill like anyone else.
