Kendrick Lamar Names His Favorite Albums Of 2012

Kendrick Lamar previously named Nas’ Life is Good as his favorite album of the year. Now, he’s elaborating on his choice and adding another LP to the mix.

During an interview with Google Play, K. Dot explained that his top LPs of 2012 – aside from his own, good kid, m.A.A.d city – were Life is Good and Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange. Beginning with Esco, the West Coast spitter explained that he appreciated his storytelling and ability to keep himself on top after so many years.

“One of my favorite albums of 2012 will be Nas Life is Good. The reason why I chose this album was simply because Nas kept his longevity, kept his creativity, kept his storytelling at an all-time high,” he said. “Given the fact that he’s been in the game so many years, still being able to come fresh and come new to where it’s among the elite artists in the game.”

He turned his attention to the Odd Future crooner, similarly praising Channel Orange for its storytelling and how well it was threaded together.

“Another one of my favorite albums of 2012 would have to be Frank Ocean’s album, reason given is because you don’t hear too many male vocalists or vocalists, period, giving storytelling inside of their music. I think it’s pretty dope to bring that part of the game back. As far as singing and rhythm and blues, it’s a great album, great concepts, a body of work. That’s what it’s about in the game. I can respect that.”

    1. niggas gonna cosign the nas part but bash the frank ocean part simply cus he came out as bein bisexual. But had he not said it them very same niggas would be allll on Franks dick. no pun intended lol.
niggas care more about the person and their personal life than they do the message.

i always say, if a homeless guy tried to tell some people walking by him to “save your money and think carefully before you spend” theyd ignore him and what he was saying simply because he was homeless, completely disregarding the message

      1. I can’t listen to a man who is gay and sings RandB. Cause he is pretty much singing some gay shit i can’t relate. Well he is bisexual but to me its the same shit.

      2. “I can’t listen to a man who is gay and sings RandB. Cause he is pretty much singing some gay shit i can’t relate. Well he is bisexual but to me its the same shit.”

        – Super Ignorant, educate yourself immediately.

      3. You sound so fucking stupid. If you listened to the album, there are maybe 3 songs on the album where he says He instead of She. The rest of the album was dedicated to women.

    2. Can’t go wrong with ” Life is Good ”
Kendrick also did his thing with GKMC

Maybe a few other dope albums in 2012
Damn I miss the 90’s…100+ dope albums a year

      1. 100+? You fucking kidding. Probably about 30-40 max… seriously try and name 100 dope albums from a year in the 90s… go.

    3. Too bad Game was all over Kendrick’s cock when shyne went at him, because Kendrick isn’t even considering Game’s bitch ass. I bet game’s all at home like “Why the fuck isn’t he sayin’ that Jesus Piece is his favorite album?”.

I bet game will diss him soon.

    4. Sounds like he chose nas cuz it was the popular pick and he wants to be compared to him, good strategy. I imagine kendrick having a south rapper on heavy rotation in his car , like big krit would be a more realistic likely album of the year from him. I like to hear what were other hip hop artist albums of the year. Like killer mike or roc marciano or even alchemist who was on fire this year.

    5. everybody says frank ocean and the weeknd are the best. wtf? I dont like that gay sound… straight men prefer hardcore hip hop not r&b. smh

    6. Ja Rule recorded a hip hop version of The Beatles’ “Eleanor Rigby”… Ja Rule is the only nigga who can do it.

      1. The last male vocalist to ever do it with the dope stories was D’Angelo on Brown Sugar. Weekend, Trey Songz, Chris Brown…All these new RnB singers are just black real versions of Channing Tatums magic mike. RnB is dead, but Frank is resurrecting it.

    8. where is the article about Kendrick Lamar’s favourite movies of 2012? or the best pair of shoes he bought in 2012? oh, what about his favourite resturaunt? when was Kendrick Lamar’s best bowel movement of 2012?

      1. you mad huh? like it or not he sold more records this year then ALL your favorite rappers so his opinion actually means something, unlike yours

      2. That doesn’t prove his music is better it proves society’s intelligence is declining.Plus he’s a homo and his voice is irritating. Fuk Kenny Cokk Riders

      3. His best bowel movement was on July 27th, 2012 at about 4:37PM PST. A creamy yet not too fluffy texture, not too dark in color, with each poopsicle approximately the size of a finger. Simply exquisite.

      4. your right. i am mad. i’m mad that the media can hype one rapper and everyone follows like sheep. People like you. This site told you Kendrick’s opinion matters and you said
“Kendrick’s opinion matters.” Since you are letting other people do your thinking for you, why don’t you donate your brain to someone who will get some use out of it?

    9. What Kendrick really wanted to say was that control system and habits and contradictions was his favorite albums of the year. TDE!!! Soulo taught me,hahahaa!

    10. O.C. and Apollo Brown’s “Trophies” would be my favourite hip hop album of the year. Life is good comes right after it though and gay music..well, I don’t listen to it.

    11. “O.C. and Apollo Brown’s “Trophies” would be my favourite hip hop album of the year”

Billboard has just certified it triple plastic.
