Kendrick Lamar Gives Lefty Gunplay His Flowers Over New Album

Kendrick Lamar has given GNX collaborator Lefty Gunplay his flowers over his latest album.

Last week, (May 9), the rising West Coast star dropped Can’t Get Right, a collaborative project with JasonMartin and his first release since his eye-catching appearance on Lamar’s hugely successful “TV Off” while the rapper formerly known as Problem appeared on the album’s title track.

In a screenshot of a text message exchange, JasonMartin can be seen texting Lamar “Mission accomplished,” along with a link to the album.

Soon after, Lamar responded: “Wow. N-gga yall did that!!! I appreciate this too much dawg. The first album of a new artist from gnx. And it’s going up. I’m bout to thump it out here. I’m proud of lefty. And always love for u playing big roles behind them boards.”

Lefty Gunplay previously revealed that Kendrick was working on a deluxe version of GNX.

Speaking to Bootleg Kev, Gunplay said: “He has some stuff. We did two, three songs. He has some stuff in the chamber. He told me that we’re going to work again, for sure.”

He later added: “I know he’s got a deluxe version coming out. He’s very secretive.”

Gunplay also revealed that he was asked to sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) before working with Kendrick: “Everybody thought that I was playing — I wasn’t, though, as much as I wanted to tell everybody. I almost blew it. ‘Cause we signed NDAs and I couldn’t wait to tell everybody.

“We had to sign NDAs and they were like, ‘You’re going [in the studio] with Kendrick’ and it didn’t hit me ’til he walked in there and gave me a hug. He’s been locked in with me since April and he said that I’m the missing piece that the West Coast needed.”

“TV Off” has been one of the biggest hits off of Kendrick’s GNX though has narrowly failed to take the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching a peak of number two on the chart.

Lamar also concluded his Super Bowl Halftime Show performance with the hit though Lefty Gunplay did not make a guest appearance.

      1. Don’t tell me this white mf named himself “Loud Pack”. Why not Donald Trump or Ulysses Grant?

    1. I still don’t like his comment about not letting his daughter date a black man. Not sure why Kendrick is aligning himself with him. He seems like a vulture that don’t really like the blk community.

      1. Just playing his position. Like somebody black is going to say shit to the Mexicans who run LA. Why I can’t take any race talk from them seriously. Like black people are whole hoes in LA in the pecking order.

      2. So you want your kids to have mixed race kids? Not me. Like keeping our heritage and culture alive. It’s a personal choice tho. Some don’t care if their culture and skin color cease to exist. I do.

      3. How about not being on some weirdo shit about who your kids are fucking with. All you should ask is that they be normal and not on some abusive, racist, or pedophilia shit.

      4. Sorry not sorry. I like my culture and want to keep it going. My kids are free to do whatever they want with their lives. It’s just a preference that’d I’d rather see my family lineage continue what it’s been for a thousand plus years, and not become unrecognizable in one generation.

    2. This album isn’t that good. It’s okay. I wish I hadn’t blind bought it, but it was due to Problem making the album with him, problem is dope. But this album ain’t it

    3. Wake up Kenny not pro black he a liar like the rest. Married a white girl went to college signed to zionist labels and endorsement deals and all his mexican ties he and others from cali fake yg too bro not from compton Kenny cousin not good either bro is playing and you fall for it
