Kendrick Lamar & Drake Among BET Hip Hop Awards Winners

This year’s BET Hip Hop Awards aired yesterday (October 16).

The event included performances from various acts, including 2 Chainz, Meek Mill and French Montana.

The BET Hip Hop Awards also included various cyphers, including the much-discussed TDE edition where Kendrick Lamar reportedly dissed Drake

MC Lyte was the honored at the event with the “I Am Hip Hop” award, which was given to the veteran rapper for her work within the culture since her start in the late 1980s.

The evening also featured several other awards. The category of “Best Hip Hop Video” was nabbed by Drake’s “Started from the Bottom.” The selection off Drake’s Nothing Was The Same also earned two other wins, “The People’s Champ” award and the “Track of the Year” award.

    1. They should have gave all drakes awards to kendrick, he didnt even show up to accept cause hes still crying over control and future not liking his album

    2. them twitter folks been going in on Officer fatty for comin out dressed like the fucking cookie monster with his titties and rolls flapping all over the place. fucking disgusting, pull up your pants and get a shirt nicca you like 38

    3. they gave drake the peoples champ of the yr award to cheer his bitchass up. sounds like a fuckin 10 year olds award

    4. How did Started From the Bottom win anything? It’s one of the worst songs ever. The beat is kinda high energy but that’s because they used the same generic hi hats that can be found in every other song, the rest of the beat sucks. The lyrics are beyond terrible and Drake sounds half asleep. I couldn’t even tell it was the hook until he started repeating himself because it sounds the exact same as the verses. One of the worst songs this year for sure.

    5. Detroit wins over Acid Rap and Ferg wins over Joey and Bronson. I mean I knew BET wouldn’t give a white dude Rookie of the year, but fuckin Joey like that is blasphemy. They both rap cirlces around Rocky, nvm Ferg

    6. Salute to all my black brothers for winning! Hope they enjoyed it cause Rozay gonna take all the awards next year for Mastermind once it comes out and kills the charts and the streets. White skinned geeks and bloggers wouldn’t understand!

      @BruthaDee

    7. should have given Kendrick Lamar f/ Drake, Poetic Justice and have drake collect it from kdot… make their sensitive beef

      1. before I saw the receipt of $9041, I have faith …that…my friends brother was like actualy taking home money parttime at there labtop.. there neighbour had bean doing this 4 only nineteen months and resantly cleared the mortgage on their house and got a new Ford Focus. you can find out more

    8. Yeezus not getting album of the year is ridiculous. Not even getting a nomination for it? Shows how irrelevant this shit is. No award for anything what so ever?? That’s some hatin bullshit. Lets just keep promoting and pumping out generic shit i guess.. Disappointing.

    9. Drake should of won ‘verse of the year’ for Versace…Kendrick won, smh.like his ‘Control’ verse how does that start again?

    10. Are you fucking kidding me?????, ASAP fucking Ferg won over Action Bronson, Earl AND JOEY B?!?!?!?!

GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE BET!!!!

    11. The BET Hip-Hop Awards need to stop being the central award for this art-form. It’s completely corporate and has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of music. The Grammy’s are more authentic than this bullshit. This is the BET Rap Awards NOT the BET Hip-Hop Awards. Drake is not Hip-Hop.

    12. A 16 YEAR OLD FROM ATLANTA MADE THAT LIST. THE OLD THING THEY GOT RIGHT WERE THE AWARDS GIVEN TO KENDRICK LAMAR. WELL, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF BEST FEATURE VERSE. I CAN THINK OF 100 BETTER FEATURE VERSES THAN THAT ONE. BUT AGAIN, SOME 16 YEAR OLD FROM ATLANTA CAME UP WITH THAT ENTIRE LIST. ON THE BRIGHT SIDE, AT LEAST NAS GOT NOMINATED FOR ALBUM OF THE YEAR.

    13. LUPE HAD THE BEST FEATURE VERSE OF THE DECADE

      [Verse 2: Fiasco]
      The Beloved T-Rex says
Grown man bars is somethin’ you gotta deal with
Whole hand cards but nothin’ that you can build with
That sound like bullshit from out a bull mouth
Even the tepee is a full house
Simple shelter keep you out the cold
If you hold it close together, we’ll never fold
Why you lettin’ the devil beat you out your soul
You don’t believe in God then at least believe in odds
This house of our is just a house of cards
Just without the yards, and nice adjacent parks
We was born black but that shit’ll make you dark
Even with a handful of hearts
Mind on the club just to find a little love, my regards
Cause when your P-O-V is poverty
It’s like D-O-C a lottery, that D-O-C be lock and key
      Finna D-O-P-E bob and weave
      And the boxer boxin’ free
Up out them rings like it was Rocky 3
Caught up in the game now
Look at how we came out like olly olly oxen free
That ain’t why they watchin’ me, yeah, yeah
Poor decider since like 4, 5 or sugar coated, colored edibles
Instead of buildin’ up a habit in them vegetables
Now early 30s, my blood pressure’s incredible
Medical, yeah nigga I’m tellin’ you
      Coveting cars over community
      Rappers influence your shootin’ sprees
Turn around and publish bars like it ain’t got shit to do with me
      Easy to record so ruthlessly
      Rich niggas
