Kendrick Lamar & Dr. Dre Working On New Music

Kendrick Lamar recently stopped by Power 105.1 The Breakfast Club to discuss his new album, To Pimp A Butterfly, working with Dr. Dre and his recent engagement, among other topics.

In regards to his latest album, Kendrick says there were more than 30 songs that he and his team ultimately decided didn’t fit the concept of To Pimp A Butterfly.

“I probably did 30-40 songs that we actually fought over in the studio,” Kendrick says.

Those songs may never be heard by fans, but the Compton, California rapper did reveal that he has been working with Dr. Dre on tracks that will eventually be released.

When Charlagmane Tha God asks K.Dot why he hasn’t done more records with Dr. Dre, Kendrick responds: “It’s a theme that we got going on. It’s a strategic move,” he says with a grin. “If I could speak on it, I would but that man is a scientist.”

Is that the third album’s direction? Charlamane asks.

    “It could be,” Kendrick says.

Although Kendrick’s label boss Top Dawg advised Angela Yee not to ask any relationship questions, later in the interview DJ Envy asks Kendrick if the rumors are true regarding his recent engagement to his longtimegirlfriend.

Kendrick nods. “Yeah, yeah,” he says. “I’m loyal to the soil.

“At the end of the day, you wanna always have real people around you, period,” he continues. “Whether it’s male or female, everybody that’s been around me, they’ve been around me since day one and I can’t change that.”

      1. He would probably say it’s good. GKMC wasn’t that good. Especially for hip hop heads. It was abit too drake ish. But this album had that funk sound and was fresh hip hop with a old School vibe. Maybe not as good as Joey badass album but definitely a good album. That king kunta track is fire.

    4. FINALLY! Somebody tells these peanut brains about using the word “classic” on something brand new! Go look the word up fools! This is why I respect Kendrick as an MC!
