Following Dr. Dre’s memorable performance at Coachella last week which included an appearance from a hologram of the late rapper Tupac Shakur, a number of people from artists to fans were quick to voice their opinions on the hologram.
Even rapper Kendrick Lamar voiced his opinion on the hologram while being interviewed by Fuse TV after his performance at Coachella. Like many people who witnessed the performance firsthand Kendrick revealed that he was more amazed than anything.
“It was an idea I knew Dre was throwing in the air probably like a couple weeks back but I didn’t know it was gonna be that serious. But I should’ve expected it. This dude is a perfectionist,” Kendrick explained to Fuse TV. “Always taking the game to the next level and that my friend is the next motherfuckin’ level. If it don’t get any better. I was in amazement like everybody else. After my set I jumped back in the crowd all the way to the back and just watched the show. Because that was my first time actually getting to see Dre and Snoop and Kurupt, Warren G perform…That part came on in the show [and] it just took it to the next level.”
Kendrick also spoke briefly on the Black Hippy group and any possibilities of a joint album. The rapper first jokingly stated that there’d be no Black Hippy album, but went on to explain that the focus right now is solidifying each artist individually and a joint album will come sometime after that.
“We working man. We don’t wanna throw no dates out there or nothing like that. We really hold that to heart,” said Kendrick. “We want that to be all the way right. It’s something that we planned from the jump, solidify each individual artist and then we’ll come with the boom. I’m not saying when. Just be ready and lookout for Ab-Soul right now. That’ll be the last puzzle to that Black Hippy thing coming.”

I understand that they always do that to whoever rolls with Dre but seriously it’s like literally every Kendrick article that gets posted here is about what he thinks about Dre and then he then he keps giving the same answer about how he’s a perfetionist and whatnot.

Ab-Soul about to drop something nice. Notice how Schoolboy Q improved 200% on Habits and Contradictions. Notice how Kendrick went from a great release to an unbelievable release with Section 80. They are more talented than 99% of what’s out there right now and they have a brilliant knack of actually getting albums released (unlike most artists these days)

Yeah man, that Jay Rock album was fire.. dude is underrated as a lyricist cuz they think he’s just “gangster rap”. The key to seeing a Black Hippy lp is Ab-Soul.. he’s the least known, and I hope his next lp gets him a strong buzz..
imo opinion even though Kendrick is my most listened to black hippy artist I actually think Ab-Soul is the best in Black Hippy though all of them are dope as fuck.
