That means Kendrick outsold the 6 God by just 500 units in their closest chart battle thus far, although $ome $exy $ongs 4 U is much newer having been released on February 14.

Both albums debuted atop the Billboard 200, although in a rare role reversal, Kendrick outsold his archrival Drake, who has otherwise been Hip Hop’s commercial king over the last decade.

GNX opened with 319,000 units following its release in November 2024, while $$$4U managed 246,000 in first-week sales.

GNX is also in pole position in terms of overall sales having racked up approximately 1.738 million units so far, while $$$4U‘s tally is 455,000 and counting.

Kendrick has dominated the charts so far in 2025 thanks to his historic wins at the Grammy Awards and record-breaking Super Bowl halftime show.

His hit Drake diss “Not Like Us” returned to number one on the Hot 100 in February following the Super Bowl, before Lamar replaced himself atop the chart with “Luther,” which was also performed during the big game.
