Kendrick Lamar Appears And Performs At New Jersey High School

    Kendrick Lamar appeared at High Tech High School in North Bergen, New Jersey yesterday (June 8) and interacted with students and performed.

    According to The New York Times, Brian Mooney, an English teacher at the school, incorporated songs from Lamar’s sophomore album, To Pimp a Butterflyinto his lecture on Toni Morrison’s novel The Bluest Eye.

    The Compton emcee found out about Mooney’s work through the teacher’s blog, which had gained traction on social media. Lamar showed up to the school and students performed spoken word inspired by his music. The Top Dawg rapper was part of a panel that analyzed their work. He closed out the event by performing “Alright.”

    Kendrick Lamar has also visited schools in Alaska, Rhode Island and his alma mater, Centennial High School, to share his experiences.
