Kanye West’s “All of the Lights” Causes Epileptic Seizure Complaints

Epilepsy Action, a UK-based organization that promotes Epilepsy awareness, has announced that they have contacted Kanye West’s agent, YouTube and other online sources and requested that West’s latest video for “All of the Lights” be removed from YouTube. The video premiered Saturday afternoon across both YouTube and their partner Vevo but is now no longer available for viewing via YouTube.

“We had started to receive calls from people who have had a seizure after watching the video,” wrote Epilepsy Action PR and campaigns manager Aimee Gee in a released statement. “We are very pleased that someone has taken the decision to have it removed. We’re not quite sure yet whether it is YouTube or Kanye West’s representatives who have made this decision, or if it is a permanent move. In any case, for now we are delighted that our fears have been listened to and people with photosensitive epilepsy are no longer at risk.”

The flashing lights featured prominently in the video’s opening title sequence and throughout the video are reportedly a nod to Gaspar Noé’s 2009 film, Enter The Void. But such flashing light sequences are also known to trigger Photosensitive Epilepsy. The disorder affects over 3 million people in America and an additional 456,000 in the U.K. As of Wednesday, “All of the Lights” had over 5.7 million YouTube views. After being temporarily removed, YouTube replaced “All of the Lights” with the following warning:

“WARNING: This video has been identified by Epilepsy Action to potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.”

    4. ok maybe its just me but if i had epilepsy, and I saw that there was a video for a song called “all of the lights” that would be something not to watch… whoever is stupid enough to actually click on that and continue to watch it enough to have a seizure, they deserve to have one

    5. I bet it was Kanye that put this shit out. Publicity whore. He even admitted that he wanted his album cover to get banned. Of course he waited for a month or 2 after to come out and tell it, after it already sold to the public. Now this vid is gonna blow up even more, the word will get out. Very good marketing kanye
