Kanye West Speaks Out After ‘Vultures 1’ Gets Taken Off Streaming

Kanye West has sent a message to his fans after his joint album with Ty Dolla $ign, Vultures 1, was removed from streaming services.

Since its release on February 10, Vultures 1 has encountered a number of issues, with the track “Good (Don’t Die)” being removed from Spotify.

The entire album was also temporarily removed from Apple Music on Thursday (February 15) after a complaint was raised by its distributor.

Vultures 1 was initially distributed by FUGA but the company then said in a statement to Billboard that “a long-standing FUGA client delivered the album Vultures 1 through the platform’s automated processes, violating our service agreement.”

The album was then pulled from streaming before a new distribution agreement was reached with Label Engine, who had also managed the release of the singles “Vultures” and “Talking/Once Again.”

After the drama, West posted a message on Instagram to his followers, saying: “With all the DSP’s taking the album down go to Yeezy.com to buy the album : ))).”

“Good (Don’t Die)” was removed from streaming services on Wednesday (February 14) after the estate of Donna Summer accused Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign of sampling the late singer’s 1977 disco hit “I Feel Love” without permission.

Summer’s estate said on Instagram shortly after Vultures 1 dropped: “Kanye West asked permission to use Donna Summer song, ‘I Feel Love,’ [but] he was denied. He changed the words, had someone re-sing it, or used AI but it’s ‘I Feel Love’…copyright infringement!”

It is not known whether Kanye used the sample without permission, employed artificial intelligence or hired another artist to sing the part as he did with “All Falls Down” from The College Dropout.

That song initially sampled Lauryn Hill’s “Mystery of Iniquity” but Ye could not get clearance to use the track on the album. He instead hired Syleena Johnson to re-sing the portion of the song he wanted to sample.

Vultures 1 also fell into sample clearance issues over its use of Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” on “Carnival.”

West was denied use of the sample by the band, with lead singer Ozzy Osbourne issuing a public statement saying he wanted “no association” with the rapper over his antisemitic comments.

The Chicago native ultimately swapped out the original sample for a section of his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy song “Hell of a Life,” which was already cleared to sample “Iron Man.”

    1. All these shit artist just wanna be famous for a day. There is no reason to deny a sample clearance, they just want higher payouts that’s it

      1. Plenty of reasons to deny a sample. Let’s pretend you create a song that meant something very specific to you, and another artists wants to repurpose it to the point that you feel would tarnish the legacy of your song (ex. someone trying to sample the Beatles “imagine” but it’s all about midget strippers). Or perhaps said person is a major asshole, and you don’t want your music associated with their music (ex. Kanye is a major asshole that nobody seemingly wants shit to do with these days).

      1. You just wishing you could ride that AI drake dick, that man doesn’t even write his own shit that’s as soft as it can get

      2. Have you looked at the writing credits on Vultures? Not defending Drake, but I don’t think Kanye does much these days either.

      3. Kanye doesnt write either. He’s a modern day Puff Daddy in my opinion. Drake is kinda ass too if you ask me lmao.

    2. No one has a better discography than Kanye West. And, as far as mainstream artists, no one really loves the music he does. I doubt he has made a dime off of music since Watch the Throne

    3. When rappers talking about shooting up the block women and children it’s not a problem. We praise it. When rappers talk about selling dope, we praise it. When rappers talk about lean, scams, degrading women, it’s not a problem. We praise it. When you have an opinion on a particular group it’s an Issue. We need you cancelled and etc. A lot of things Trump and Kanye say, I don’t agree with. But everyone Should be entitled to voice their opinion. That’s what makes America the best place to live in the world. The problem with censorship is where does it stop. My nephew had little boys dressing up as girls in his classroom and he’s only 8yr old. Can I not have an opinion on that and speak my mind? Or will I be cancelled

      1. The best place in the world, where you can’t send your kid to school without a vest, obesity at an all time high, your health service is fucked & let’s not get on to racism.

      2. Still would much rather live here than anywhere else tbh. Mass shootings, even though higher than similar countries, is extremely rare. Obesity is easily avoided and racism is overexaggerated in most parts of the country. There’s a reason why America is rent free in everybody else’s head in the world. You seem to stay up with our news more than I do haha Here you are on an American site that is all about hip hop(American) probably on an Android(American), iPhone(American), or Windows(American) PC talking trash. Go home to papa. Notice nobody from the US is ever trashing some random country on here because we don’t even think about you. Chances are we don’t know who your leader is. Yet you probably know just as much about our country as the average American. Rent free baby.

      3. People tend to forget how big the country is as well. Unless you’re living in the Chicago ghetto or something, your chances of even being involved in a mass shooting are extremely unlikely. You’re more likely to die in a car accident than even be involved in a mass shooting in MOST parts of the country.

      4. Bruh you sound like you need to read the real news more often. Dang near every mass shooting in this country is and has been committed by white folk, typically killing people of color. Chicago and Mass shootings are two separate issues.

    4. Peeps can get lost with all this cancel culture politics. Ye’s ability to turn out hit records with substance is exposing some people’s insecurities and faults. We riding with Ye ALL DAY.
