Kanye West has reportedly postponed “Yeezus Tour” dates in Chicago, Illinois.
West canceled the tour dates in Chicago for November 7 and November 9 due to damaged tour gear.
Kanye West has cancelled various tour dates due to this reason, including stops in Anaheim, California; Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; Denver; and Minneapolis.
In October, Def Jam released a statement about how West’s equipment was damaged.
“Yesterday, on the road to Vancouver, a truck carrying ‘The Yeezus Tour’s’ custom-made video truss and 60-ft circular LED screen was in an accident that damaged the gear beyond repair,” the label said in a statement. “This gear is central to the staging of ‘The Yeezus Tour,’ and central to the creative vision put forth by Kanye West and his design team at DONDA.As a result of this event, it is impossible to put on the show and ‘The Yeezus Tour’ will be postponed until these essential pieces can be reengineered and refabricated. Kanye West will not compromise on bringing the show, as it was originally envisioned and designed, to his fans. The Vancouver, Denver and Minneapolis dates have been postponed. Further details on the affected tour dates will be announced shortly.”
There is no official word on when the tour is slated to continue.
Kanye’s “Yeezus Tour” made headlines when it was reported that West performed “Jesus Walks” alongside a man dressed as Jesus.
West spoke about this with San Francisco radio station Wild 94.9.
“One of the things that I wanted to really get across with that message is that you can have a relationship with Jesus, that you can talk to Jesus,” Kanye West said. “In the same way how someone will have ‘Jesus is My Homeboy’ [on a T-shirt], that is the way I would express it and the way I create, is that you can have a relationship with Jesus, that you can talk to him.”
