Kanye West, Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist have apparently been working together as a song snippet from the trio has leaked online.

A brief 9-second clip of a track leaked on Discord and features West singing: “Come on, come on, before the street lights” before Gibbs begins to rap about baby mama drama over a recognizably Alchemist beat laced with sprinkling pianos.

It is not known if the song was recorded recently or is from a session for a previous album.

Kanye has never worked with The Alchemist before, but Gangsta Gibbs released a joint album with the producer called Alfredo in 2020 which was later nominated for Best Rap Album at the Grammy Awards.

While The Alchemist and Yeezy have never worked together before, their paths have crossed. Back in 2021, the veteran producer told a hilarious story of his first time meeting West at Baseline Studios in New York City sometime in the early 2000s, during a session playing beats for JAY-Z‘s A&R Kyambo “Hip Hop” Joshua.

At the time, Alchemist didn’t recognize Kanye and assumed he was one of Roc-A-Fella’s R&B artists due to the “jean suit” he was wearing.

“Remember one time I came to see you to play beats,” he said on the New Rory & Mal podcast while sat across from Joshua. “There was somebody on the couch with a jean suit — like a jean jacket and jean pants. I thought it was one of your R&B artists; you had Christión at the time. I didn’t know who it was!”

In fact, The Alchemist didn’t even know how to pronounce Kanye’s name properly and thought the up-and-coming producer was called “Cognac West.”

“[Hip Hop] told me early on, we got this kid. I thought his name was Cognac,” Al admitted. “He was like, ‘Cognac West.’ I’m like, ‘Who? What?’ You had a bunch of beats from him. I remember he just came to New York. That was an early stage, man.”

The Alchemist also recalled Kanye West following him out of the studio and asking him for production tips — which is when the penny eventually dropped.

“I’m playing beats for [Hip] Hop and every other beat dude’s going, ‘I like that one,’” he said. “And I’m thinking, ‘Who’s this dude, man? I’m playing beats for Jay, for Hop. What’s going on?’

“I go to leave and bro follows me out the room and shit … and he goes, ‘Yo, how you get your drums like that?’ I’m like, ‘Drums?!’ He goes, ‘Yo, I’m Kanye West, man.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, you straight!’ ‘Cause he already had a couple joints out and [Hip Hop] had already told me about him. I didn’t know it was him.

“I was like, ‘You straight! Your shit is fire!’ I gave him a dap and he’s like, ‘Alright, bet. Cool, cool.’”
