Kanye West Calls Ice Cube One Of His Biggest Let-Downs & Inspirations, According To L.A. Trade Tech Student

Kanye West’s L.A. Trade Tech lecture, which took place recently as part of the rapper’s community service, included topics surrounding other acclaimed emcees, according to Andre Pitts, a student in the graphic design class West spoke in.

“He talked about Tupac,” Pitts says in an interview with Complex. “He was watching the movie Juice, and he was inspired by Tupac being in the movie. He talked about how Ice Cube is one of his biggest inspirations and one of his biggest let-downs. He talked a little bit about Steve Jobs. He mentioned a little bit about how the media portrays him negatively, but he’s saying that he’s not anything negative, it’s just him being real and calling out bullshit all the time.

“He was all over the place,” Pitts adds, “but I mean, one of the main things he was talking about was…he was giving examples of different things and saying that having a Rolex or a Benz is not something that actually represents your success because there’s always something more expensive to buy. So, he was saying that success was really being able to do things for others as well as the people around you and yourself.”

Pitts, who says his heart dropped when West entered the classroom, also says no one knew he would be present. West also opened the floor for a Q&A session with the students, he says.

“Someone finally did actually ask about the Illuminati,” Pitts explains, “and I don’t want to say too much because he did tell the truth this time, but I don’t have it on film so I can’t really back that stuff up, but he did talk about that topic. Someone asked if he listens to his own music, or if he listens to other people’s music. He said he likes to listen to his own music since he thinks he’s the best artist, still.”

      1. warpspeed back to the present, Cube ain’t gonna do anything & I agree he’s been a BIG disappointment

he went from Amerikkka’s to Death Certificate to Ride Along

    1. Is this site just willing to put anyone on with out checkig their credibility? This dude did nothin other than provide a vague list of topics….and then to top it off about that illuminati bs? He spoke the truth? Well pray tell buddy, what is that truth? The way he states that alone is fishy….like “oh I’d say but you wouldn’t believe me”…..and why did he call cube an inspiration? And why a disappointment?…..did whatever tard that interviewed this clown really not follow up with these questions? What kind of media is this? And if that’s all he gave you I would seriously think twice about posting it….then again HHDX only wants a headline like “Kanye disses cube” so they don’t care bout the facts or if the story has any backing…or if it even makes sense…..this “student” was either a) not payin any attention cause he provided nothing b) made up some of or all of it….or c) he’s even dumber than the guy who wrote this arricle

Come on HHDX up to game…..seeing way too much of these non stories on here

    2. Last album i brought for Ice Cube was Death Cerificate, Cube is one of the biggest disappointment for real, He sure is trash now

      1. cube feel off after death certificate. he is no longer the aggressive introspective angry black man. but death certificate was definitely a real hip hop classic. cube wrote all his raps too. Kanye can never say that.

      1. questionable? nigga I don’t even fuck with Cube like that but I’m smart enough to know that death certificate shits on any kanye west album not named college dropout

rapping about real world issues >>>>>>>>>>> throwing tantrums about fashion

    3. First off Death Certificate SHITS on anything Kanye has ever done!!! 2nd Cube has made classics and then evolved above hip-hop so how in the fuck is Cube a disappointment? Kanye is the fucking disappointment, came out on some black power shit then let them illuminati fucktards fuck his head up. Notice how dude doesnt have the illuminati question on footage, that should tell you all you need to know. Anyway though Kanye is full of shit and so are some of you who agree with the bullshit he said about Cube. GTFOH Ol illuminati uncle tom slave house nigga

      1. naw EDubb from XXL, you got it twisted

if ANYTHING he saying that after all that Cube you yourself don’t see it like wtf? I do

thinking cats ain’t being real, just defending and judging.

    4. KANYE IS SUCH A FUCKING DOUCHE. CUBE AND PAC HAVE HAD MORE IMPACT ON HIP HOP THAN KANYE EVER WILL. THAT NIGGA STARTED THIS WEAK HIP POP WITH HIS 808 AUTO TUNE SHIT

    5. I already know he listens to his own music. Aziz Ansari said it. haha.

But seriously the corniest thing a rapper can do is listen to his own music all the time.

    6. So he tells us all this…
Then says kanye told the truth about the Illuminati…
but cnt go into detail or say anything about it…

      Article is bullshit troop…

    7. from a real west coast hip hop head that has been following cube since NWA yeah he has been a big let down recently, yeah, hes a legend, yeah he had the bangers, yeah he did shit no one will ever do, but as of today hes just getting old and as hard as he tries, all his new material doesnt sound that great or have that real aggression he used to have

    8. I don’t even think Ice Cube wrote his old rhymes back in the day you can tell by the way he raps on his new songs just don’t sound very intelligent and lazy.

    9. Fuck Kanye. Dude has nothing on Ice Cube. Cube doesn’t need to make good records anymore he already has enough to make him a legend. Honestly what 90’s rapper still spits like they did back in the day. It’s a young Guy’s game.
