Justin Timberlake was arrested for driving while intoxicated earlier this week, and he has now expressed his gratitude to those who haven’t stopped believing in him.

On Friday (June 21), the 43-year-old took the stage at the United Center for the first of two nights in the city of Chicago. During the set, he took a moment to reflect on his mistakes while showing his love to those in attendance.

“We’ve been together through ups and downs, lefts and rights,” he told the crowd, who subsequently gave him a standing ovation as he got visibly emotional. “It’s been a tough week, but you’re here, and I’m here.

“I know I’m hard to love sometimes but you keep loving me right back.”

In mid June, the global superstar was arrested in New York and arraigned the following day.

Timberlake allegedly refused a breathalyzer, as his lawyer Edward Burke Jr. later stated: “The charge was a single count because he refused the breath test. Mr. Timberlake was also charged with two other court citations, running a stop sign and not traveling in the correct traffic lane.”

He later added: “[We] look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations. He will have a lot to say at the appropriate time. He is currently awaiting full discovery from the DA’s office.”
