Justin Timberlake’s lawyer Edward Burke Jr. has spoken out following the singer’s DWI arrest.
Defending the “Cry Me a River” star, Burke Jr. released a statement claiming there was more to the situation than meets the eye.

“[We] look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations,” he said, according to Billboard. “He will have a lot to say at the appropriate time. He is currently awaiting full discovery from the DA’s office.”
Justin Timberlake was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in New York on Monday (June 17) and arraigned the following day.

He was pulled over by the Sag Harbor Police Department after he “was observed operating a 2025 BMW southbound on Madison Street, failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign and failing to maintain his lane of travel.”
He also allegedly refused a breathalyzer, as per his lawyer: “The charge was a single count because he refused the breath test. Mr. Timberlake was also charged with two other court citations, running a stop sign and not travelling in the correct traffic lane.”

The police report states: “It was ascertained that the defendant was operating said vehicle in an intoxicated condition in that his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”
The official report quotes Justin Timberlake as saying: “I had one martini and I followed my friends home.”

His next court appearance is scheduled for July 26 — the same date he’s scheduled to perform in Poland on his Forget Tomorrow Tour.
The singer has yet to comment on the incident himself.
It was also reported that Justin Timberlake wasn’t recognized by the arresting officer, despite his celebrity status.
According to Page Six, JT said: “This is going to ruin the tour,” with the officer baffled about what he meant.

The project debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart with roughly 67,000 total album-equivalent units in its first week, becoming the worst-performing album of his career.
