Much has been said (and repeated) by the dozens of artists that have had a hand in recording in preparation for Dr. Dre’s long-awaited project, Detox, but the vast majority has come from emcees. On this project, Dre has also enlisted the help of other producers, including high-profile beatsmith Just Blaze.
“The work on Detox, it’s been a long process, I been going back and forth to L.A. for like eight years,” said the “Public Service Announcement” producer on MTV Rap Fix Live. “Well, 2002, so it’s been nine years years, actually. I’ve seen the album through different phases. I’ve heard near-complete versions of the album, then he turns around and scratches it and does the same thing two or three times over.”
Just revealed that Dre’s initial Detox announcement wasn’t meant to actually be a grand introduction. “When he first talked about it, people took it as an announcement, and it wasn’t that. It was more so, ‘This is just something that I’m thinking about doing.’”
The producer continued, explaining that the situation snowballed. “So from there, the word kept spreading and he starting working on it, not necessarily because he wanted to, but because he felt like he had to because it had morphed into an announcement that Dre is working on an album called Detox.”

i remember when scratch magazine had that issue discussing the producers behind detox that just blaze initially made that usher “throwback” beat for detox, something like when he leaves the game they’re “gonna want [him] back”.
Scratch magazine is out of business…detox still aint out
lol Saigons like.. yea u guys aint talkin bout me.. yea
Next:
Dj Khaled Talks “Detox” Contribution, then Waka Flocka, then Gucci, then Lil’ Wayne & Drake, then Soulja Boy, then Justin Bieber, then Nicki Minaj, then Lady Gaga, then…

then that guy that captured Bin laden, then the guy who was videotaping the take down of OJ Simpson, then the lady from The facts of Life, then Todd Bridges and Mr. Drummond, then Rerun from What’s Happening
DETOX AINT COMING… DONT BE FOOLED
Your a fucking idiot
I liked it better when Dre composed all the beats
well even if it took 9 years, it still seems like dre may be rushing to put it out. i hope not.
WHO CARES ABOUT DRE OR DETOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!
doesnt do his own beats or write the rhymes so why take ten years to do an album? DUDE IS WACK he has been around for that long and he still got people doing the hard work for him. wow at least i can turn the mpc on and make you 5 or six in an hour range but ten years thats jus acts of being over rated and lazyness
He makes his own lyrics asshole
This shit is crazy. Think about it…is making a classic album really an accomplishment if it takes 10 years?
Couldn’t Soulja Boy even make a classic album if he worked on it for 10 years?
Well maybe not, but y’all get the point
Thriller took 3 months.
WHAT HAPPEN TO THE RESPECT FOR DOING YOUR OWN BEATS? i guess those day are over now you can jus put your name on anything and it dont have to yours (YOU AINT FRESH BY DJ QUIK BALANCE&OPTIONS) IF IT TAKES THAT LONG HIP HOP JUS ISNT YOU. dre need to try something new like DO IT HIMSELF for once he been doin this same shit since deathrow DAYS even pac said he dont do the beats so why people are so born yesterday about his bullshit beats me
Name one rapper that has done every single beat to every single song they’ve made dumbass……I know pac didnt make all his beats now did he?….NO SO FUCK OFF
im getting a little bit sick of all those people who did something for detox and talking about it.?
haha sai looked so disinterested in what they were talkin about until they brought up the idea of gettin him on the album. i don’t have very high expectations for detox at this point, but having saigon on it would raise my interest a lil bit
Dre was too busy taking lifting weights and taking steroids, human growth hormone, testosterone etc etc to make ‘music.’ Let alone be father to his drug addict son, right ‘Dad’?
Fuck this clown and all who pay attention to him.

I`m a BiG Dr. Dre fan, but honestly the demand for the “Detox” album will only remain for so long, dude needs to get off that perfectionist throne & drop it already!!!
if its anything less then perfect, then he wont feel satisfied. this is the album of the century. this is the album everyone has been waiting for, for over 10 years. if its not perfect, then everyone will laugh at him.
Interesting interview, especially on how it relates to life in general and putting the cart before the horse… doing things out of obligation and that kind of thing. Do things because you want to do them and only that. Good lesson to always be reminded of… thx
i just thought, what if he decided to make the album like a timeline
like tracks dating back from 2005 to 2011
dre is smart as fuck, put some trust in the doc
stupidest idea ive read on dx. stupider than the writers smh big time
stupider is not a word STUPID ASS
Why is everyone hate on dre i mean hes better than anyone out there besides eminem
bmc8 is the stupidest. period. end convo
Dre = Overrated as hell. DOC spoke on how much he had to do with track selection/production. He pays for his lyrics. DJ Quik, Scott Storch, etc… have all had a hand in crafting his sound and his hits.
Dre is 46 years old still talking about 26 year old stuff. I believe he, like many others, are afraid to produce content appropriate for someone their own age. You will get some teeny boppers to buy into this ‘Detox’ based off the publicity and promotion that jimmy iovine will provide, however, once the nostalgia dies down, the remaining population will realize time has passed and he failed to evolve and mature in terms of his music…
Essentially, what he comes out with will be considered a flop. But, if he makes a compilation album with Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Jay Z, Shakira, Perez Hilton, and Justin Bieber it will probably go platinum…. I’m just sayin
and i aint no fuckin teenie bopper and im buyin this shit you want to know why?………….BECAUSE ITS FUCKING GREAT
I think Detox might already be the most overrated album
Well it really shows how big of dip shits you are when say its overrated
with all these “Contributions”, this album just might be 100 songs long.
Oh, and i’m lolling at “mythical record”.
does anyone even give a shit about this album anymore for reals? he let too much time pass.
Take that time that passed an shove it up your ass
GOT THAT RAP ON CRACK
