Juelz Santana Admits He Was Addicted To Lean: ‘[Paul Wall] Kind Of Introduced Me To It’

Juelz Santana admitted he was once addicted to lean during his Drink Champs episode that was released on Saturday (June 4). Speaking to N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN, the Dipset member revealed he was previously drinking lean every day and couldn’t stop due to withdrawal symptoms.

“I was drinking lean, and did I have an addiction to lean? For sure,” he said. “I was addicted to the point to where I was drinking it every day and if I stopped drinking it, yeah, I would’ve got sick ’cause that’s what happens with the opiates and shit. Withdrawals and stuff.”

Juelz went on to say Paul Wall introduced him to lean, but took full responsibility for trying it in the first place.

“[Paul Wall] kind of introduced me to it a little bit, just on some ‘Taste it,’ you know what I mean? I’m a grown-ass man, I do what I want. Paul Wall did not drug — nah, no way. I’m not gon’ do that to that man. But yeah, he put me on and you know, me and [Lil] Wayne being close and recording that album at the time didn’t help, of course. We were just fully not feeling our face all around the board.”

In an issue of XXL in 2009, Cam’ron claimed Juelz Santana was addicted to lean and described his drink of choice in the studio.

“Juelz started drinking syrup — Robitussin,” Cam said, according to MTV. “He got hooked onto it, addicted to it. You would come to the studio and see a hundred Hawaiian Punch pre-mixed with the stuff in it. We already smoked mad weed; you don’t need to be on Robitussin.”

Shortly after, Juelz Santana admitted to drinking lean but denied being addicted, while calling out Cam’ron for taking Percocets.

“For him to say he stop messing with me because I was drinking syrup — that’s like [Birdman] saying he doesn’t mess with Wayne because he was drinking syrup,” Juelz said at the time. “He just wanted to say something and that was probably the only way he could say something and keep his character up. I was never addicted to syrup. I used to drink it on occasion.”

He continued, “I don’t know where that came from. [His comments] were a shocker to me, like, ‘Damn, you would stoop low like that?’ With his stomach situation, he was doing Percocet. It’s not for me to say, ‘Because he was using Percocet, I stopped speaking to Cam.’ You’ll say, ‘I do Percocet because of my stomach.’ But I’ve seen you do Percocet when your stomach is not bothering you. So that’s besides the point.”

    1. just sad to see these guys turn out to be junkies however they were warned. drinking lean is for losers and brain dead clowns. none of those lean heroes from twenty years ago turned out to be anything but drug addicts with messed up brains. Lil Wayne could be talking logically one second drooling grunting and spitting the next he fried his brain can’t get it back. stick to weed and the occasional light beer or glass of wine. don’t pop pain pills and don’t buy mollies off anyone who isn’t official to you as the fake pills are poison

    2. Juelz is wrong for bringing Paul Wall into this mess he should have just talked about what he chose to do, not about who put him on to it. Cam is wrong for speaking about what Juelz did or does. They all acting suspect cause ain’t nothing cool about telling what your man did or didn’t do. That stuff should be private not public.

      1. My point exactly.. it’s totally wrong of him to do that, it’s like u looking for validation for his conscience,I fucking hate it, it’s childish..I drink lean,I own up to mine, it’s crack mixed up in it very addictive and an expensive habit…

    3. I appreciate Juelz for speaking about addiction, it’s not a joke. and I’m glad he didn’t put blame on anybody for his addiction. He stated that Paul turned him on to it, and that Wayne was around him a lot during that time, and we all know Wayne’s situation with lean and such, so he’s just giving his history of events that lead to his addiction. Big ups to Juelz for being brave enough to discuss it openly…we need to depersonalize addiction so that we can have a better chance at defeating it

      1. But calling paul wall name is just dry snitching please,I don’t condone that at all,he is a grown man,Paul wall didn’t force him to drink it,he made his choice… I used to and still drink lean, it’s an expensive habit, but I never call another man name who introduced it to me,never,I drink it,me me and me

      2. He didn’t dry snitched. He explained how he was introduced to lean. It’s his story and experience. He took full responsibility for his choice.

    4. It also eats your stomach lining and will induce kidney failure..ps there are no available kidneys.

    5. when the number of teeth you lost is grater than the number of songs you released, you probably have an issue.

    6. Juelz please don’t involve Paul wall in this,u are a grown man,he didn’t force u to drink it, and besides u can’t tell me at that age,u had no idea codeine syrup was very addictive fukkouter here with that.. calling another man name, about a drug habit, that’s dry snitching..
