John Singleton Directing Tupac Biopic

John Singleton has signed on to re-write, direct and produce the forthcoming biopic on Tupac Shakur, according to Variety

The film from the director of Boyz N The Hood and 2 Fast 2 Furious is slated to include Tupac’s rise to one of Rap’s biggest acts, as well as his still-unsolved murder in 1996.

Production for the film is anticipated to being in June, though casting for Tupac has not taken place, the story says.

Singleton directed Tupac in the 1993 film Poetic Justice, which also features Janet Jackson.

In September, it was announced that Morgan Creek Productions and Emmett Furla Films were in final negotiations to partner on a Tupac biopic.

A press release from the two companies announced that the biopic would be produced by James G. Robinson, David Robinson and L.T. Hutton, among others.

Tupac was shot several times in Las Vegas, Nevada, on September 7, 1996. He died six days later.

      1. ^^ true, plus that muthafucka’s jet black. Suge’s a waffle colored nigga, maybe they should try to fatten Chris Brown

      1. Actually him and Tupac were working on Baby Boy together and when Pac died, John decided not to do until over a decade later. Them brothers were solid with each other. Pac was beefing with them fake biracial cowards the Hughes sisters.

    1. John Singleton’s a good writer & director, as long as the casting for 2Pac is better than Anthony Mackie in Notorious I think it’ll turn out to be a decent movie

    2. This is the person they should have had do all along! Finally people are making the right decisions! I am sooooo happy that Mr John Singleton is doing this biopic on the late great Tupac Shakur! Whomever plays the role of Tupac is going to get nominated for an Oscar! Well, maybe he won’t, because Tupac pissed off a lot of people. Anyways us true fans and new fans will enjoy it nevertheless.

    3. I hope that he includes Pac’s first 15 years in Brooklyn and Harlem. People on the west coast keeps forgetting Pac belongs to us. He was born and raised in New York City. NYC people can go anywhere and run it. Did y’all really think a California rapper could rap that good? F out here with all that “2Pac from Cali” talk. Brooklyn stand the f up.

      1. yeah man he learned to rap at 15 it aint like the bay area gave him his game. it aint like there’s a vid of pac at 17 talking like a lisped fucking fruit cocktail. that’s what new york does for you. and before the other cities try to claim let me say: it aint like baltimore is where he ran into psychotic scientologist jada pinkett.

      2. Pac is from NY but got most of love out west. That is why he related more with them. He spoke of his issue with New york in plenty of interviews.

      1. LMAO, took the words out of my mind. Great, another Tupac biopic. What else we don’t know about this nigga already? LOL by the way, Boyz n the Hood, Higher Learning and Rosewood are the only John Singleton movies worth watching.

      2. there’s one tupac movie that’s in 2003. the rest are street documentaries by snakes trying to get a buck off his murder

    4. Yeah the only REAL comment i have seen was the one saying “there has never been a Tupac biopic….’ FUCKHEAD!!
Pac fans will love it dont watch it if u gonna diss a fucking legend!!
