Joey Bada$$ and former Pro Era member DeeKnows got into a heated fight in an NYC store just before Christmas.

In video captured by the storeā€™s security cameras, the pair can be seen having an emotionally charged discussion before coming to blows both inside and outside of the location.

Itā€™s unclear what sparked the altercation, but many fans of Pro Era expressed their disappointment to see the former friends be on such bad terms.

The incident seemingly happened on the anniversary of Pro Era member Capital STEEZā€™s passing on Monday (December 23). While some fans speculated their issue could be around that, nothing is confirmed.

Capital STEEZ (real name Courtney Dewar Jr.) reportedly jumped from the roof of the Cinematic Music Group headquarters in Manhattan, New York on December 23, 2012. He posted a tweet just moments before his death that read, ā€œThe end.ā€

STEEZ rose to fame alongside Joey Bada$$ thanks to their 2012 collaboration ā€œSurvival Tacticsā€ and released his first and only solo project, AmeriKKKan Korruption, that April.

In 2018, STEEZā€™s family boycotted STEEZ DAY, the annual event set up by Pro Era to honor the late rapper and raise funds for his family.

ā€œMaking it unaffordable for the real Steez fans,ā€ STEEZā€™s sister, Tamara Dewar, wrote at the time. ā€œSteezā€™s family will not be there and half the jokers on that stage wrote some lil shit about my brother.ā€

On his 2022 song ā€œSurvivors Guilt,ā€ Joey addressed the family, rapping:Ā  ā€œAnd hereā€™s a message to his fam/I know yā€™all got emotional trauma, that I understand/But I couldnā€™t fuck with yā€™all trying to tell the world I wasnā€™t who I am/When all I ever tried to do was lend a hand.ā€

He also opened up about the impact that STEEZā€™s death continues to have on him, reflects on their relationship and even admits to feeling partly responsible for his passing.

ā€œSTEEZY told me get ā€™em so I got em/Now my n-gga gone, he will never be forgotten/Ever since he left Iā€™ve just been struggling without him,ā€ he raps, before adding, ā€œThen I caught a little wave and headed back to shore/And thatā€™s when he started drowning/And he had no one around him so partially I feel itā€™s my fault.ā€
