Joey Bada$$ and Capital STEEZ have been able to reunite on wax thanks to a previously unheard collaboration shared by fellow Pro Era member Nyck Caution.
The two rappers were close friends and collaborators until STEEZ committed suicide shortly before Christmas Day in 2012, with the New York Hip Hop collective he co-founded going on to achieve success in the years after his death.

Taking to Instagram on Monday (March 3), Caution posted a snippet of an old track that is listed as “gwood” and features himself, Joey and STEEZ exchanging bars.
Caution also wrote in the caption: “Was going through old music remembering disguise the limit and Found this old gem circa 2010 with Joey and Steez lmao wanted y’all to peep.”
Joey Bada$$ has previously expressed guilt over Capital STEEZ’s death.
He addressed the tragic incident on his 2022 song “Surivor’s Guilt,” rapping: “STEEZY told me get ’em so I got em / Now my n-gga gone, he will never be forgotten / Ever since he left I’ve just been struggling without him.”

He added: “Then I caught a little wave and headed back to shore / And that’s when he started drowning / And he had no one around him so partially I feel it’s my fault.”
The Brooklyn native also addressed STEEZ’s family, who in 2018 boycotted STEEZ DAY, the annual event set up by Pro Era to honor the late rapper and raise funds for his family.
“And here’s a message to his fam / I know y’all got emotional trauma, that I understand / But I couldn’t fuck with y’all trying to tell the world I wasn’t who I am / When all I ever tried to do was lend a hand,” Joey spat.
Capital STEEZ reportedly jumped off the headquarters of Cinematic Music Group in Manhattan, dying upon impact.
