Joey Bada$$ appears in the latest episode of InFocus, a new series presented by Skee TV that profiles pioneers pushing the culture forward.
During the three-minute segment, Bada$$ describes himself as a “young boss” who is heavily involved with all facets of his musical career.
“With great power comes great responsibility,” he says.
Bada$$ also proclaims to be “the new face of Hip Hop,” mainly because his message spans “deeper than New York.”
“I started getting known and gaining credibility in New York,” he says. “It was outside, then it came in.”

Joey, Kendrick, KRIT, Cole.. These guys are helping keep hip hop alive. Respect.
How you gonna be the “NEW” face of HipHop when you’re style is old as fuck? Come on man, you’re a decent rapper but you’re not moving HipHop forward sounding like a 90s rapper.
You do have a good point. But I do think you gotta take into consideration the fact that he’s one of the few new artists (even with an old style) that’s pushing the craft either to a new level (or back to where it was before the bs depending on your view of things). I don’t think he’s THE new face. But I think he’s is or can be one of the new faces.
Where do people get the whole 90s thing from? He doesn’t sound like wu tang or the tribe or nas or Anyone like that. The only thing that’s 90s-esque are his beat selections. Boom bap originated in New York. Meanwhile everyone else are using trap beats like they’re from the south. dudes the best out of the 90s imo. He’s like Jay Z if he stayed underground. Mind you this; Jay Z came to Joey, so he had a chance to be mainstream. He could have been know but instead he’s grinding the hard way, while trying to maintain his own image. Fk selling out.
No you not.
Joey Badass is nice, but nah, he’s not the face of hip-hop. Kendrick Lamar is to me. But Joey Badass, J. Cole, Big Krit, Asap Rocky, Wale…they all holding weight now. Respect to them all.
New ugly face of hip hop
dude. you sound like wannabe boot camp clik/black moon but weaker. The new era is run by Drake, Kendrick, Odd Future and ASAP. Thats the current generation. If dont step it up, u may never even be remembered.
Joey > Kendrick. K. Dot is mad overrated, and I’ll easily take B4.DA. $$ over To pimp a butterfly anyday! As I’ll also easily take 1999 over G.K.M.C.
Well, no
That’s laughable bro lmao. Joey is really good @ duplicating the sounds of some of NY’s finest 90’s rappers (Nas, Big, Big L, Early Jay, Even Busta) but thats about it. Unless he gets away from this 90’s nostalgia fad he will never even come close to touching the genius & originality of Kendrick’s rhymes or musicality. That’s just reality bro…
kendrick is garbage! Why do people even listen to that fake ass wannabe andre 3000. Joey and action are the truth, and fuck being the face of hip hop who cares its all about the music
Why u gotta throw shades at Kendrick n i can say the same about Joey Wackass…Kendrick not in this article yet u on his dick u ignorant mf
Far from it. homie is boring to me,doesn’t have that “It” factor & despite all of the push he gets the average kid in Brooklyn couldn’t even spit you 1 of his verses…..Face of Hip-Hop he’s not
I recently saw him in Florida at a club with about 1000 people inside. They sang along everyone of his songs, word for word. It was a beautiful thing.
Is this a joke when people think of hip hop music they think of drake. The numbers views popularity success etc all back up this claim. I bet if Joey drops an album he won’t even go gold. You can’t be the face of hip hop when 80 percent of the world doesn’t know you exist. Drake is the face of hip hop and that’s an undeniable fact.
silly little kids still think record sales mean something in 2015 thats hysterical. Nobody buys music anymore when u can download any music you want for free. Drake can be the face of rap thats fine. RAp is something you do, hip hop is something you live, its a culture and fake ass clowns like drake, lil wayne and kendrick have no place in hip hop, they make corny ass music for 12 year old girls to talk about on facebook and twitter get the fuck outta here
Even though I’m not necessarily a fan of Drake, I realize that he’s the face of hip hop right now. Everyone knows who Drake is. If I had it my way, it would be Kendrick Lamar or Lupe Fiasco, but Drake has a crazy amount of control over the game right now and it doesn’t seem like it’ll stop soon.
^ Uh, no. Drake isn’t the face of anything. He doesn’t control shit. @Drake runs rap, you’re wrong about everything.
funny part is many of you commenting are the “new” faces and you do absolutely NOTHING for mankind but swear you’re better than, intelligent, and entitled to
Ok first off rap and hip-hop are two different things let me see if i can shed some light; jay-z reasonable doubt =hip-hop, gangstar moment of truth=hip-hop wutangclan enter the 36 chambers hip-hop kendrick lamar tpab =hip-hop . Jay-z blueprint=rap drake iyrtitl= rap kendrick lamar gkmc = rap. Rap has rappers hip hop has emcees “rappers spit lines that are mostly illegal m.c’s spit ryhmes to uplift there people” -krs one. Hiphop has nothing to do with the sales hip-hop is in the streets its for a very select few. Joey can be thought of as a face of hip-hop i wouldn’t say THE face though
