Joell Ortiz, a member of Shady Records’ Slaughterhouse, recently discussed Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2.
“The Marshall Mathers LP 2,” Joell Ortiz said in an interview with xxlmag.com. “It’s fantastic, man, just the idea of it, to go back to that concept where Eminem was Slim Shady. He’s having some fun with this project, as you can see with ‘Berzerk’ and ‘Rap God.’ I’m just happy that he’s excited. The fans are gonna like this album. I’m sure of it.
“Em’s album isn’t gonna come and go,” Ortiz continued. “It’s gonna be around for a while. We’re here to support everybody and anybody who is on the label when they drop, and now it’s Em’s turn. We’re recording and stuff, but the whole focus is on Eminem.”
Ortiz was also asked what he thought of Eminem when he first heard him.
“I just remember being like, ‘This White boy’s nice,'” Ortiz said. “I’m just being real. I was in the hood like, the hype is true. This guy is incredible. You could see it, too, what the response was around the nation. I mean, around the world. So I’m not the only one who felt that way.”
During the interview, Ortiz also discussed his progress and development as a person and as an artist.
“I’m the most excited I’ve ever been in my entire career,” Ortiz said. “I’m constantly working on records, concepts, things of that nature. I’ve developed as a human being, too, so my story’s changed. I’ve been on my health kick. I’ve lost a ton of weight. I don’t smoke. I don’t drink. It’s a clearer mind, and I feel like I’m getting better. Part of being great is feeling great. I conquered that part, and now when I’m in the booth I’ve acquired that same formula.”
Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 is slated to be released November 5.
Slaughterhouse is prepping the follow-up to their Shady Records debut, 2012’s welcome to: OUR HOUSE. Eminem collaborated with the group and produced on the album. Eminem was also the executive producer of the project.

MMLP2 is fantastic and I can’t wait to hear SH next album. Hopefully with Just Blaze as the executive producer it turns out well.

As you know, my boys group is signed to Shady Records, but I can tell you I heard him ranting about wack beats/production and terrible pop hook features at breakfast.
Hardly any wack beats on the MMLP2 and far less wack hooks than what was on Slaughterhouse’s last album. Flip A Bird is the worst hook ever.
I heard Joell say the same ish when I was cooking him his daily 3rd lunch the other day. He kept on using the words “passionless” and “generic”
joell cant afford no chef. nice try
Album was decent.
All week, each member of Slaughterhouse will praise Eminem.

Em really stepped up his game.. Great album, with only a couple of bad songs VS the best Lil Wayne album, which has only bad songs over terrible beats.
Album was far better than recovery need to give it a few more listens tho. Some the rhymes he was spitting were different level to these other mc’s
It shit all over Jay z wack album neway camel face fell off lyrically a while ago
youre outta your mind if you think this pop album was better than recovery
Your outta you mind if you think #MMLP2 is better then #MCHG
These motherfuckers need to stop being pussy ass yes-men and tell Eminem his album sucks and also, why the fuck is none of the Slaughter on the album? Eminem does NOT know how to push his artists at all.
Read the reviews bitch. It’s an incredible album. Get a professionnal’s opinion. Fuck yours.
royce should have been on it
Ortiz kissing ass the album I heard MMLP2 IS S.H.I.T
you kissin ass of some niggas opinion?
You would be too if Eminem was your boss. Of course you gonna praise his album.
When even the critics are giving Ems album good reviews, you know he did a good job.
Only a couple weak songs on the whole album. on a lyrical level, no one is fucking with Em right now.
How can someone hate this album……………???
Bad Guy, Rhyme or Reason, So Much Better, Legacy, Groundhog Day, Baby, Rap God, Brainless, So Far, Love Game (especially the third verse), Headlights, Evil Twin, Wicked Ways, even Desperation and Beautiful Pain, shit even Asshole had some fucking bars.
Em really delivered his best since Eminem Show, and a very good album. The reviews show that. Critics ride Kanye hard, so when his whack albums get good reviews, it’s no surprise, they suck his cock every album. Ems classics that are revered by everyone only scored in the 70’s on metacritic. So when Em is scoring 70’s and 80’s on reviews, when critics historically aren’t found of him, you know he did good.
Also, he isn’t putting out the same shit every album, every Em album sounds different……..every single one. You can’t say the same about Nas or Jay, who are ATG’s too. This album is better than any Jay album since American Gangster, and probably better than that album, especially lyrically.
The critics are the same cocksuckers who praise ALL pop music and pop artists. As long as they play it safe and fun and tow the line, they’ll get those great reviews. Go against the grain, and they’ll take you down lol

The only songs I like are So Much Better,Legacy, brainless, evil twin, baby ,these were tracks like the originall MMLP. the songs asshole & survival were ok to me they sound like Encore tracks. the rest was alternative pop rock. but as a whole I like the album Rap God is awesome lyrically but the beat is so lame to me it killed it for me album is a solid 3.5/5 based on the level of all his albums definite replay value
