Joe Budden Slams Lil Uzi Vert For ‘Experimenting’ On ‘Pink Tape’: ‘That Was A Crock Of Sh-t’

Joe Budden is not a fan of Lil Uzi Vert‘s latest musical effort — and, in a way, feels that Pink Tape is a bit of a rip-off that didn’t need to be experimental.

On Tuesday (July 18), the former Slaughterhouse MC shared his opinion on The Joe Budden Podcast, and while he tried to soften the blow with his initial commentary, he also made clear that Uzi’s efforts were very amateurish, at best.

“Uzi did respond to the comments he’s been making about ‘experimental tapes,’ and ‘the real tape is coming,’ blasé bah,” he said on the most recent episode of his eponymous podcast. “He spoke to Ak [Akademiks] about it.”

He continued: “Now, I appreciate any artist that’s trying, so I don’t want to take away from that. But that was a crock of shit. Because that goes out the window once you sell it to me. It’s not… you’re not trying anymore. This is the product that you’re selling. If the plumber come over to fix some shit, and wanna try out some new methods, you should’ve did that shit before you got here. Once you’re here to do the service, fix the shit. Don’t experiment.”

Check out Joe Budden’s comments below:

While Lil Uzi Vert hasn’t gotten a lot of love from Joe Budden, they have been receiving a lot of positive feedback from Pink Tape — so much so, in fact, that they’ll be performing hits from the release (and more) at the IYKYK Festival in Phoenix.

The rapper will be joining Metro Boomin and Denzel Curry on September 9, 2023 at Phoenix Raceway. The IYKYK Music Festival — which is geared toward spotlighting Hip Hop culture, art, fashion and more — will mark Lil Uzi Vert’s first headlining festival appearance in Arizona.

Pre-sale tickets went on sale Thursday (July 20), while General Admission and VIP tickets go on sale Friday (July 21). Tickets — which you can get here — start at $55.

As for Joe Budden, he recently made headlines when he shared how he believes Drake would “smoke” Childish Gambino — and not just on wax.

Despite Donald Glover’s impressive credentials in front of the camera, Budden still tipped Drizzy to come out on top in a “content battle,” arguing he’s not one to be trifled with in terms of talent.

“If those two have a parody-off, now I’m in. If they have a skit-off — ’cause they both are talented in that regard,” he said, before declaring: “Drake’ll smoke that n-gga’s boots. Drake’ll smoke that n-gga’s fucking muffin.”

He added: “Watch when he hosted the ESPYs. Watch his appearance on SNL. Watch his appearance in the Lil Dicky shit. The Chris Brown video.”

    1. JB is 100%. Back in the day artists used to work stuff out BEFORE going to do an album. Jazz artists gigged around and played experimented before cutting an album. Rock bands did secret dates and shows to work out new material. Comics play small clubs to work out material before doing the big special that gets recorded for Netflix or HBO…

Rappers USED to do cyphers and run studio bills up to work out their new sound before doing “real sessions”. This is why Tupac and Prince had so much backlog of music when they died. Half that stuff is just concepts and directions and alt. takes they were working out before dropping the “real music”.

Today? Artists hit “record” and “upload” when they sneeze and fart then get mad when we don’t we don’t get it.

This garbage has to stop. Start making some real music again. Something you practiced and thought thru. Quit with all these drugs. Yall are high all the time and the music sux.

    3. A lot of songs and production lack creativity, quality and real substance. A lot of it should have been deleted, not saved for another day.

    4. You’re worse, you keep coming back to the dumpster for more. Get a life you loser bum. If you spent HALF the time you spend commenting out getting some money, you’d be straight!
