Joe Budden has shared his thoughts on Drake‘s career following his perceived defeat to Kendrick Lamar in their hotly contested feud.
Speaking on his self-titled podcast, Budden argued that the 6 God’s legacy is still in tact, despite being out-streamed and out-strategized by his longtime rival.
“I don’t care what Drake does; for me, Drake’s legacy is already kinda cemented,” he said. “A lot more has to happen for him to look as bad as some of y’all want us to view him as. I don’t think he looks the greatest right now, but I don’t care.”
He added: “I don’t care that I don’t think he can rap like he wants to rap. I don’t care that the slaps don’t sound the same. I got Views, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, Nothing Was the Same, Take Care, So Far Gone.
“I got the music that I need from him. It is phenomenal, no matter who wrote it. It sounds timeless, no matter who wrote it. And it continues to work.”
Budden’s comments also come after several Drake reference tracks leaked online, including a version of “Mob Ties” recorded by Vory, intensifying the scrutiny over his songwriting.

In other Joe Budden news, he recently made headlines by criticizing Apple Music’s ranking of the 100 best albums of all time.
The former Slaughterhouse MC discussed the list on his aforementioned podcast and took issue with the placement of several classic R&B albums.
“Just talking about solely R&B, what they did with [Sade‘s] Love Deluxe, [Usher‘s] Confessions, [SZA‘s] Ctrl, Prince and [Michael Jackson] is egregious,” he said. “This list is disrespectful to a lot of R&B actually. There’s a lot of phenomenal R&B albums [that are missing]. [Marvin Gaye‘s What’s Going On not being in the Top 10] tells you that they disrespected the rest of R&B.”
His sentiment echoed that of Jermaine Dupri, who also recently claimed that the list was “sad” and “disrespectful” to R&B.
One thing Budden did note was done correctly, however, was the ranking of Kendrick Lamar‘s good kid, m.A.A.d city in the Top 10, though his former podcast co-host Mal would disagree.
Podcasting some of the worst shit that happened to hip hop. Hel, it’s some of the worst shit that happened to entertainment period. I think I’ve enjoyed like three podcasts out of the hundreds I’ve clicked over the years, and they had nothing to do with hip hop. The hip hop ones were just a way for failed rappers to say they were doing this in their spare time instead of getting something like a real radio job, which would have cemented they were washed.
Budden in that Drake dick now too. WTG is going on?
